Cool. Two Bond films in two years.

They could have made it easier on themselves and hold Casino Royale off for 2 months and release THAT in 2007.

EoN also announced that the 2007 movie title will be decided by the 007 Forum Bond Title Poll.

Well duh. We've only all been saying this for the last few years, that it would be ridiculous to miss a once-in-a-millennium promotional opportunity.

If they'd had their act a little more together over at Eon we could have had a final film with Pierce in 2004 or 05 and then introduced the world to Craig in 2007. Broccoli and Wilson would have been a few hundred million richer in the process.

But what do we plebians know anyway? :dunno:

Well - The stars ARE realigning.

Thanks, Kara!

Wow... I think it says something if they are so confident in the success of this movie, that they already want to start filming the next one. (I nearly typed 'sequel')

Two Bonds in two years would make up for the current trend of long laspes in between.

That'll be so friggin' cool if they have one ready for next year! *fingers crossed*

I think they're saving money by keeping the crew together. Learning a trick from Peter Jackson.

Yep, saving money by keeping the crew together, using the buzz of one film to snowball into the release of the next one and MOST IMPORTANTLY.....

....completely cementing their new guy as 007, totally reinforcing the fact that CRAIG IS BOND. Skillfully avoiding any possibility of a Lazenby situation. They will also then be able to take three years between Bond 22 and 23, letting Craig do other projects so as to avoid a Dalton, and seeing what talent emerges for directors, supporting cast, writers etc.

I'm sorry, but the key phrase in that article is
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper
Anytime a story uses a British newspaper or magazine as a basis for the article... I'd love to believe it, but unless there's genuine confirmation elsewhere, I don't believe a word of it.

At least the source wasn't The Sun....

The Express is mid-Division.

The Sun, The Star, The Mirror etc. - total gutter tabloid.
The Express, The Daily Mail etc. - slightly more respectable tabloid.
The Times, The Telegraph, Guardian etc. - broadsheet, pretend respectable.

The Sun, The Star and The Sport still have pictures of girls with their boobies out in them. Quality !

What a tease! 2 Bonds in 2 years, then expecting us to wait THREE for the next one? I would really hope they can do the third in only 2. I can understand if they can't.

*sniff*

PS: If they really treat this as sequel to Casino Royale, and maybe get into the 'LALD' material, scuze my language, but I might get a full blown erection.

First one in 3 years? :o

Sorry.

Barbara Broccoli has said "no" to redoing the novels that have already been filmed. By sequel, I think they're referring to the terrorist organization that Le Chiffre works for. I think it will be a recurring villain thing.

Ahh... that could be interesting!

I am hoping it will be a 21st Century SPECTRE. I am also hoping that maybe Vesper's death may yet allow 007 to embark on multi-movie revenge / self destructive spiral that he did in the 4 SPECTRE novels (TB, OHMSS, YOLT, TMWTGG) but we were robbed of by the almost throwaway introduction to DAF.

DCD, I edited your post. I'm just trying to be very strict about the whole spoiler issue. This happened in '02; people started leaving the boards because they were so eager to avoid spoilers. I just want to prevent that.

It's gonna make for an interesting discussion in the next few months as to what qualifies as a spoiler and what doesnt.

For example, are plot points that are lifted from the novel going to be regarded as spoilers? I suppose the obvious answer is 'yes', but on the other hand, we have discussed the novels here at great length any chance we get. We talked about the novel at length in the past when we discussed our "wish lists" for the film. Is it gonna be off limits for a few months to discuss the original novel?

I'm with Kara. I'm trying to remind myself that the vast majority of people seeing the film will not have read the book (even many among Bond fanatics here). This movie should be a real thriller with a few genuine surprises for most people, especially those who are all-too familiar with the Bond movie formulas.

At first, I thought that things in the novel shouldn't count as spoilers. But there are many, many young fans who haven't read all the novels, and there are probably some new fans who are avoiding the novel until after they see the film.

On CBn, I've encountere many fans who first encountered Bond in video games, and relatively few who know the novels well.

Agreed. Any increased traffic around here will probably be the casual Bond fans and newbies, so why spoil it for them. I'm fine with the idea of curbing the chat about the novel's plot for a while.

Kara Milovy

We don't have to curb the chat. We just have to use the SPOILER tag. I'm usually checking in twice a day so any slip-ups will be caught pretty quickly.

BeauButabi

Maybe there could be threads marked SPOILERS in the topic, so we can have discussions without having to spoiler tag every time we post.

Kara Milovy

Sure. The spoiler tags are just for when it comes up in the middle of something.

LeiterCIA

Is there a way we can have two levels of spoilers?? One set for the newbies who've never read the novels, and another for things that even super-fans like myself might not know?

Kara Milovy

Good idea.

Sorry, my bad !!!! Thanks for sorting it out.

Anyway.......

....... so maybe we will get a proper resolution to an occurence rather than things being forgotten about or seemingly just glossed over.

Oooooh, I hope this 2007 thing really is true. Anymore news on it ?
