"The Doctor Dances." This was the best I've seen of the new Doctor Who. Just absolutely terrific. I now have hope.
I changed my sig to a line from this episode, words that resonate with the spirit of hope.

I agree, one of the best episodes of the series so far. I think Eccleston is doing a great job as the Doctor.

Frickin' jealous, y'all. But it's the same with Galactica. Still waiting for the other half of Season two to come out on DVD. Been following the spoilers, so I know what happens, roughly. But being so out of synch with my geek brethren blows.

True, true.
Sucks they only gave him 1 season. :(

I know some of the episodes are available on Sci-Fi.com. Have you tried going there and seeing if you can watch the episodes you've missed?
I liked it too. So far, that's the only episode I've caught. (New life for my social life. Fridays have been busy.)
I fully intend on getting a DVR before the new Stargate episodes air in July though. :D

Well, I tried makin a new thread for the second part, but I guess I'll hafta post here. Here's what I said about "The Doctor Dances".
Wow. Just....wow. That was fantastic! Totally didn't see the twist coming, it really hit hard. I wasn't really scared by the gas-mask kid in the "The Empty Child" but damn! He gotta a helluva lot creepier here. That whole thing with the tape-recorder where you slowly realize that the kid is still talking after the tape runs out, and the thing with the typewriter.
Stephen Moffat is a great writer, I'm a huge fan of Coupling, and I'm glad to see he can write in other genres as well. The Doctor's "everybody lives!" speech is one of the better lines I've heard, really got me. I wonder how long Captain Jack will stay around, he could be an interesting addition (even though I know he probably won't stick around). Can't wait to see what's next!

"Just this once, Rose, everybody lives, EVERYBODY LIVES! There is so much poignancy and hope, and joy in those words. This is a great line. Of course, without seeing the show, I wonder how many people will understand the implications even though I may think those are self evident, even out of the context in which it was spoken?

CRAP! I missed part two!
Did they ever explain how this other guy was a time traveller?
Was he the same race as the Doctor?

One of my friends came over to watch the season finale of grey's anatomy, and afterwards I made him watch Part 2. He'd never seen the show before, but he's a fan of Billie Piper. He seemed really into it, but about 40 min. in he said he had to go home (it was late). He went to get something out of the kitchen, but when he came back the show was back from commercial and he ended up sitting and watching the rest. Afterwards, he commented on how great the show was, and that was only from one episode (and the second half of a two-parter that he hadn't seen the first half of no less!)! Now I just need to get him to watch BSG and SG1...

Not really, and no. He was a self-described con-man, but he didn't really explain how he came to have a time-traveling spaceship.
Only three episodes left, it seems. Boo hoo.
