I'm trying to figure out how boobs would look if a woman were jumping up in the air, kind of like the far right picture in my signature, but with her boobs not really supported by a bra as such. At the moment they way I'm painting them in, they look too static and statue like and I can't seem to get the motion of how they would actually move. Would they go upwards our outwards, and would they look a bit distorted?
I've tried to look for any reference images on the net, but short of porn pics, there's nothing out there. Does anyone have either any helpful reference pics? Or could someone perhaps either explain or sketch out the motion in which the breasts would move (maybe you female artists out there could look at yourselves and report back?).
If it helps at all, these are medium to small-sized boobs rather than big ones.
Thanks

Medium to small size boobs does indeed make a difference.
Porn is not a bad source...uh, for bouncing. Look for thumbnail gallery postings, which have them sorted by specifics like 'redheads' and see if you can find one called 'natural' which usually means no fake boobs or 'small breasts'.
Meanwhile, bouncing around with no bra on is painful, but you get a similiar effect hanging upside down. So to answer your question based on that, yep, your breasts roll slightly outward (it varies on the force involved I would think for bouncing) and so the nipples are pointed at least slightly out and more up, rather than center to lower on normal uh...swinging breasts.
Volume wise, take a balloon and fill it with water, but so that it has the firmness or lack thereof of a breast, and then roll it...see how it kinda has a slight (the smaller the breasts the more slight) concave effect on the underside of the breasts...while there would be a slight push up effect on the top side to compensate.
Of course, totally depends on how hard you are bouncing here...the concave underside would be VERY slight and only relevant in terms of lighting and the push up effect- well for those two things to happen you'd have to have some pretty forceful bouncing.
But either way, to be realistic nipple placement is important and so is not having both breasts the same...since it's so variable one breast would likely be higher, farther out or in, and each have slight to moderate to wildly different nipple placement...depending again on force and such.
Soooo...uh, hope that was helpful.

Thanks for the detailed explanation WWG. That does help.
Just to ask a few more questions on the subject, you said that smaller to medium-sized breasts have a more slight concave effect. Would it ever be the case that those sized boobs would barely move at all (like say, a female gymnast who usually has boobs which are "close to the bone" so to speak)? Or would even the smallest of boobs move and distort even a little bit?
While your explanation on how boobs move is very good, I don't suppose you might be able to draw a diagram and maybe PM me? Or I could PM you and ask you how boobs would look on a base image and you could PM/ email me back the corrected image. How does that sound?
Thanks

No, no, no, it was Ottawa U. I profane on Toronto, that damn city thinks the sun shines out of its arse. Uh... though I dearly love everyone at C2F who happens to be Torontonian with a deep but platonic love, of course. *koff*
That said... you mean you can get a degree in boobology? I always pursued it as a simple hobby and now you tell me I could be making a living by it?? To think I've wasted my life so badly... :(

Sure, welshie, pm me.
And yeah, it's kinda relative to size. See, in bras, which is our standard measurement....men tend to go by cup, but that's wrong. Shape and size really go together and breasts are based on the rib cage, the size of the breast mass AND the shape of the breast (hence you hear the full vs. pendulum breasts, etc.). So a breast is measured not just in numerical (34,36) but also in conjunction with the cup. So a 34A is hugely different, in size and shape, than a 36A and it is concievable that a woman with the same size ribs, say two women with 34 inch ribs, but totally different shape and size breast mass, would end up in say a 34A and a 36A or 34B etc.
That's why you must always try bras on! Gentlemen.
Anyway, yes a small enough breast wouldn't move much but the nipple still would, although much less. A typical A cup (which is hard to define based on the above...but I'm thinking of a few women I know with A cups) would still move, but if you mean a really non existant breast with very, very little to no breast tissue at all...then you could have almost no movement.

HA!
I, lol, don't think the first one is gonna do it due to breast size and if you click on the thumbnails it doesn't give you anything...and the tour is only huge boobs. Geez that makes my boobs hurt just to see.
but man, that second link with the bouncometer...snicker...I clicked on A cup with highest force and I guess that looks pretty realistic...except I still say at any given 'still' frame there would be more variance, but she is 'running' so moving with....oh, uh, a specific swing.
That should really help Welshcat but if you need more help, you can PM me with an image and I can give you pointers or correct it if you want. I can't draw worth a damn, and normally I'm game for pics in some capacity but although my breasts are smaller than they used to be because I keep losing wieght, I don't think they are small enough...they aren't as small as the A cup in that bounco-meter...it's a pretty full A-B cup and in 36.
How sad! I used to be a 36 C for like forever...and not that long ago I was trying to take upside down but kinda horizontal cleavage shots (and full body, not just cleavage, lol) for a manip for Zac and discovered my boobs weren't big enough to make upside down cleavage anymore, and now they aren't small enough to help you much WC.
But that's what happens when you start getting a few years from thirty..Gravity for women is like shrinkage for you guys. blah! I want my old boobs back...
Anyways, though PM me if you still need help and I'll look through those old pics because I distinctly recall they were rolling out and up and kinda...going flat on me, instead of doing what I wanted. So perhaps the sad effects of combined gravity, and odd superhero upside down poses might be of help after all....I'll check, there might even be some pics of me mid fall, lol, I nearly killed my back posing for that
But I always have fun; I'm still planning on going to a park with a swinging rope on a playground and taking picks swinging around so I can do a cool Batgirl with grappling hook manip. Problem is, I have to be as close to nude as possible except for the batcowl and the utility belt and gloves and boots. And most parks are closed at night.
:?
Hey Biohaz, that second link is really helpful. Thanks for that! I do wish you could pause it a bit more to see how it looks instead of just observing it in motion though. I tried doing a screenshot but you've got to time it just right to get the boobs in the right position. Also, it's cool that you can get a different view of the boobs, although I would've also liked a more panoramic 360 degree view just to see how it looks at an angle and not just face on or side profile. But you can really see how the nipple moves upwards almost really high up in relation to the original position. Where did you find such a site and why would you have been looking in the first place?
WWG - I will probably still PM you because as much as I can observe the effects of gravity on boobs in that simulation, there's no substitute for the opinion of someone who actually does have boobs herself. Does it matter if the pic is "slightly" nude - you won't be offended will you? Thanks for all your input and explanation.
BTW - you could go to the park during the day in a skimpy bikini, or if you were feeling really daring, wait until no-one is around and get someone to photograph you swinging about naked. Perhaps if you even had a crowd of trusted people to shield you from the public eye, that would cut out any unwanted peeping toms. I'm sure some other DGC-ers would probably volunteer for the task! Maybe it could be a group project! Anyway, I hope that works out.

AMEN!
No, no, nothing offends me, half my base images are/were full on porn. In my quest for base pics, I learned gay porn is much more tasteful, often than straight porn, because gay porn is a great soure for superhero men type bodies. Now, I try to take my own pics, and get my female friends into bra and panties whenever possible, you guys will eventually be seeing a manip or several of one of my friends who was really great about it and perfect- not only beautiful but very dark compared to me esp. and very flexible (ex cheerleader- I was ecstatic when I found out how high she could kick). You guys will be seeing her as Elektra..coming someday. But I have yet to get a male willing to pose for me, in real life. Over the years several DCGer guys have been really helpful; esp Zac, Adam and David.
Yeah, I thought of the swimsuit, but I lost my black bikini bottoms. I still have the top, which would be good...and I guess no one would know if I just wore panties instead. Idealy, I would take a bunch of pics with different accessories for different manips because a playground has SO many cool options. The monkey bars, climbing across, the slide has a TON of possibilities, and several playgrounds have this 'zip cord' type thing that would be the bomb. Those big chain nets...it's a treasure chest of physical props for manips.
Anyways, got your PM WC, will get back to you asap!
I just want to add that for a while, I thought I had the privilege of seeing WWG's boobs. Unfortunately I was wrong! :(

What are you talking about?! Those were my boobs, I was being sarcastic, silly.
Turns out I was right about the pushing up, and the variance from breast to breast, but there was less concave than I though there would be on the underside, and overall it was just highly variable, from breast to breast. I also forgot to mention/take into account everyone or nearly so has one larger than the other, at least a bit. In then end, it was...a bit odd because one reacted totally different than the other, but there's authenticity for you.
The bounce-o-meter was a bit off but I might not have been bouncing as hard and also, just different breasts...every set is unique, like fingerprints!
Anyways, this concludes the Braless Breast Bounce Experiment

Where else would I get boobs in the exact right pose and angle? lol
Yeah, it was me, I charged the camera overnight and rolled outta bed and took some pics before I even got dressed. Took five mintues. Took me only 10 to get it into photoshop and lower the opacity a bit, and mess with color and contrast because her skin was a different color (uh, she has color) and the picture quality was, and still is really quite different, but I assumed you were gonna clean her up so I left it alone mostly. Then I added them to your image and ta da, realistic, if a bit strange breasts. I knew it was gonna come out bizarre looking...
I told you guys a long time ago I'd help you out with manips as far as pics go; of course there are things I wouldn't do, but generally in the name of art, some nudity is okay. Hey Charmine used to take pics of herself on the toliet just for fun! (I heard). Plus I just have tons of costume props. Can't make a good cape for your latest babe manip? I've got three, in different materials...wait four; one red lined...one burgundy lined...you just never know what I might have in my costume prop box.
In general, I think every woman should be able to do whatever she wants with her own body; for me personally, I would never wanna be doing anything sexual even remotely for profit but for art or fun, why not? I feel I know now what makes me feel uncomfortable and I won't cross those lines, but breasts don't. I like them, am not embarrassed by them and see no reason not to use them accordingly. Anyways, if someone wants something and I don't want to do it, I'll just say I'm not comfortable with that.
I do not want to be some kind of internet pin up girl- but I'm just an average woman, not a model and see no danger of that happening. Thank goodness for the magic of PS! If this wasn't a community of manipping Wizards, I wouldn't even be willing to do take any pics!
So you're welcome!

I'm sure that all this is said and done, but for future reference…whatever you do just remember my signature and that, "There are no boobs at Burger King!" lol
Oh, and as far as any other DCGers helping out WWG with her "pictures" in person, well I'd help since I'm also from SA, TX but being married with kids doesn't allow for that kind of thing you know. So, I leave it to you single guys (and gals if you're into that sort of thing) who are also fellow Texans or are just so horny that you'll gladly jump on a plane to help the gal out.
*Heh! I saw WWG's boobs!*   *runs off to boast to other DCG-ers!*
Seriously though, thanks a lot for doing that, especially now that I know you took it on personally. BTW - when you say "I charged the camera overnight and rolled outta bed and took some pics before I even got dressed," does that mean you sleep in the nude? :D  And did you actually do it on timer or get someone to take? It must've been hard to get your boobs in the right position if it was on timer.
Since I know you will pose for some pics, I had this Bride of Ultron pic I was once working on years ago but could never find a base image for the Wasp and Jocasta from exactly the right angle lying down on an operating table sort of thing. I tried using poser but it never looked very realistic, especially with the skin tones for Wasp. Maybe one day I might have to dig it out and ask you to take a look and perhaps you could pose for it? Thanks.
WonderWomanGoddess
07-13-2006, 11:34 AM
Oh, uh...yeah I could see how wives might not dig what you are talking about there darth, but I don't require that anyway...all the guys I mentioned from here who've helped me out did so just like I did WC...by taking pics and sending them online.
And it's not always so...booby? Is that an adjective? It is now. I mean once I needed combat boots in the exact right angle and so I asked Zac and he had some and bing bang boom, he took the pics, of his feet in combat boots and helped me out a great deal. See? Geez, it's no big deal to help each other out. I'd be happy if I could get a guy to pose in boxer briefs for manips, but also, you know, besides Spidey and a few others, the typical male superhero build is not as easy to come by as the average female. I only know one guy in real life and his gf would never go for it, ha.
I sleep in the nude alot for one simple, not sexy reason: I hate doing laundry. Also I have dogs and cats, and so I save the nice nightgowns and such for when I'm having those nice alone evenings and the pets are with my ex.
Yes, it's on a timer and it's a BITCH to get into postion in time, although less so for this one, than for more complicated poses or you know, ones that involve climbing up on things or hanging off furniture backwards or whatever. I should have a blooper reel, from when I fall, bust out laughing, or get stuck in some odd way, or something else gets int the picture and it's just funny. I hate using the timer. I did a pic of myself as nearly naked Shiva this year and let me tell you, the timer was all I had for that and it was SO hard. Also the manip itself was hard because those many arms ended up being much harder than I thought. Never doing a Spiral Manip now. So when I have enough clothes on, I get my ex to help out, and the less clothing on, and I get my girlfriends, one in particular who's very patient and will say "no, you looked retarded in that one, do over", to take the pics. Also, good to have a second eye for hair and makeup, etc. But it is still hard because only I know what I am looking for in a pic for the manip in my mind so...ugh it's hard to stop, check the pics, stay in costume, which is often uncomforable at least, and then usually do over because the whatever was all wrong. Also, these poses are really often hard on my back, esp in heels or high heeled boots. It's not all fun and games! :P Ah, but it is fun and beats searching google any day.
Sure, WC, posing on a table sounds a lot easier than jumping jacks...and less painful  It wasn't exactly a jumping jack, I put my arms like hers, but obviously did not jump that high.
As far as horny people go, I never find anyone, as I've said around here that wants to play dress up as superheroes for sex. Except in Canada. And I don't have any male superhero costumes. But either way, I'm too tired, my life is too complicated; even my sex toys feel neglected, I'm not currently in search of a man. Although since orgasm tends to make me thirsty hungry and sleepy, in that order, and I am currently trying to gain weight and get some sleep...maybe I do need a ma...oh wait, I said orgasm!
Zing!

Welshie, If you don't like the skin tone of the Poser model, you can try something I do. i always desaturate my images and add the skin tone on a separate layer. When using poser models I grab a skin texture I like. That way you preserve your shading and have total control of your skin tone and texture.

I'm changing the title of this topic to be more in line with the conversation; Pictures and Requests etc. We can continue to discuss base images we need, ideas, requests, etc in general.
The adult warning remains in case of any links to any more things like the 'bounce-o-meter' (very helpful!).
I'd encourage anyone else with a digital camera who wants to volunteer...biohaz, are you volunteering for a hand model? lol. If anyone has costumes, props, or just a camera and a willingness to help out feel free to post so here.
Also to the frankenstiening crowd, feel free to post asking about specific props or elements; I know just about every costume shop on the web and costuming rings, etc so I or someone else may be able to point you in the right direction.
Requests can go here to, or can be PMed to the person. Also, if anyone finds some treasure of base images, this is a good thread to post it in.
So this is now a thread for discussing base images, requests, general helpfulness in this arena. We all know how hard the base image hunt can be.
-WWG
PS. Someone might wanna start a thread about Poser tips and questions if we don't already have one somewhere...
WWG - I think there might be a very old Poser and Bryce tips thread from ages back. I remember it from when I was first learning those programs and it probably has some good helpful tips but it would probably have to be dug out from the really old posts (it's at least 2 or more years old - possibly even more).

For anyone here like me who sticks to strictly 2D line art I'd like to recommend any of the "How To Draw Manga" series of books. Even if you don't like Manga these books blow away any other instructional comic art books on the market. I have like 5 or 6 out of the 20 or more that have been produced, but I have a list of others that I definately want to obtain. Anything by Christopher Hart is pretty good too, but not even his stuff is as through as the HTDM series. Those books have a lot of instruction on many various poses, body types, clothing types, and even detailed books on mechines and weaponry. They even have a couple of books on animals, and another 2 or 3 on coloring and shading. IMO they are great for use in any art style not just Manga. 8)

Most of the threads are aimed towards photomanippers. This thread I'm talking about must be several years old. It was when I was first learning Poser and Bryce. My last image in the gallery must be nearly 1 1/2 years ago, and it was a fair bit of time before that. So we could be going back 3 or 4 years now. If you do a search for keywords like "Poser" or "Bryce" it's bound to show up.
Also WWG - it might be worth stickying this thread on base images and maybe those Poser/Bryce threads if someone can find it.
I dug out that Poser/Bryce/etc thread for y'all. Not sure if there'll be enough traffic in either thread to sticky it, but I can do that too if it seems justified. Even though I'm not WWG. ;)

You know, since I'd been writing alot of UIRs lately, I'd been thinking about mentioning the artist needs help thread as a resource to some of the newbies who're asking questions. I think I'll start doing that as it's an excellent idea and is certainly way underutilized by most of us.

Probably some Marvel Legends figures could be a good stand in for some characters and can be later modified in photoshop to look less toylike and more realistic.
