There are certain lines from various movies that when I think of them or hear them, I have an emotional response to the words.

As silly as they may sound, 3 lines that always cause an emotional response in me are:

"I Am Superman": The Iron Giant

"Never give up, never surrender": Galaxy Quest

"That's the stuff dreams are made of": The Maltese Falcon

There are others, but none more powerful than these.

What, if any, are the lines that any of you treasure?

I don't know if an exchange qualifies but this one always gets me:

[Spock, having saved the ship, is dying]
Kirk: Spock.
Spock: Ship... out of danger?
Kirk: Yes.
Spock: Don't grieve, Admiral. It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh...
Kirk: ...the needs of the few.
Spock: ...Or the one. I never took the Kobayashi Maru test until now. What do you think of my solution?
Kirk: Spock...
Spock: I have been and always shall be your friend.
[Holds up his hand in the Vulcan salute]
Spock: Live long and prosper.

OMG, I just got choked up. I haven't watched that one in ages.

Not to mention the eulogy that Kirk gives at Spock's funeral.

Kirk: We are gathered here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. But it should be noted that this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... [Kirk pauses a beat, choked up] human.

Most of them, but I also have access to a super-secret site which has them all transcribed. It's called Imdb.com. Shhhh... don't tell anyone! :D

Jeez, this isn't the Trek forum!

My fav movie sayings that resonates with me:

"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner."
-Robert De Niro, Heat

"I don't throw darts at a board. I bet on sure things. Read Sun-tzu, The Art of War. Every battle is won before it is ever fought."
-Gordon Gekko, Wall Street

"I never wanted this for you. I work my whole life - I don't apologize - to take care of my family, and I refused to be a fool, dancing on the string held by all those bigshots. I don't apologize - that's my life - but I thought that, that when it was your time, that you would be the one to hold the string."
-Vito Corleone, The Godfather

"And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen - I didn't ask who gave the order - because it had nothing to do with business!"
-Hyman Roth, The Godfather Part II

"Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy, or are you gonna bite?"
-Mr. Blonde, Resevior Dogs

"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."
-Orson Welles, The Third Man

These quotes pretty much sums up my attitude on life.

"Look, we're going to spend half the night driving around the Hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all going to leave and then we're going to go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. I spend half the night talking to some girl who's looking around the room to see if there's somebody else who's more important she should be talking to. And it's just like I'm supposed to be all happy because she's wearing a backpack, you know? And half of them are just nasty skanks who wouldn't be nothing except they're surrounded by a bunch of drunken horny *******s." - Mike, Swingers

I had a second job working in bars from 97 until a couple of years ago just before my daughter was born. That quote sums up my observations of the bar scene better than any other movie I've ever scene. I laugh uncontrollably every time I hear it, or even read it for that matter...

Dingo: You must spank her well, and after you are done with her, you may deal with her as you like... and then... spank me.
All: And me. And me too. And me.
Dingo: Yes. Yes, you must give us all a good spanking.
Dingo: And after the spanking, the oral sex.
GalahadWell, I could stay a bit longer...
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail

They made me tingle when I was 14. Still do, I'm afraid.

This film may be a little historically inaccurate, but its still one of the best Mel Gibson films and Mel has such an awesome speech. Its really moving. It goes like this...

William Wallace: And if this is your army, why does it go?
Soldier: We didn't come here to fight for them.
Second Soldier: Home, the English are too many!
William Wallace: Sons of Scotland! I am William Wallace.
Second Soldier: William Wallace is seven feet tall!
William Wallace: Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds. And if HE were here, he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse.
[Scottish army laughs]
William Wallace: I AM William Wallace! And I see a whole army of my country men, here, in defiance of tyranny. You've come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight?
Soldier: Against that? No, we'll run, and we'll live.
William Wallace: Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least for a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

Fastcar, your quote from Braveheart was the original one I wanted to put in. Im glad to see that Im not the only one to remember that line. Also Shawshank and Legends are some of my favorite movies. You have good taste, I just wish I knew people who appreciate the same films I do. My wife loves all those films but I can never get her to stay awake for them.

From Star Trek III: The Search For Spock

Kirk: "You Klingon bastards, you've killed my son!"

Repeat 3x with a little more panic evolving into a little more anguish each time and you have arguably William Shatner's most powerful acting ever.

The Weavil-"Ted, what's wrong?"
The Great Strobe-"What, you mean, beyond the fact that you are f*cking my wife?!?"
