View Full Version : Beginning to feel screwed with on Lost...

Alright, I have to admit I have really liked Lost until these last two episodes.

But, with all the connections to everyone on the plane in their lives just before the crash (you know, nearly every one of them having met or been near each other before they ever got on the plane, etc.) I am beginning to feel like they are just making everything up as they go along and looking for the next gotcha moment.

I am beginning to doubt that they really have a story here, but are just throwing one wierd situation and plot twist after the other merely for the purpose of having them instead of to advance a REAL storylne.

If this goes on much longer I am going to be sure they are just screwing with us all and that they don't have anything to offer but one goofy twist after another.

I am at the point where I feel that watching this series has been an utter waste of time and that I am just being messed with to no end.

Anyone feel similarly?

Yep.

Although I'm not quite at the point where I feel that the series has been a total waste of time - however, I feel that instead of being true the story that they are trying to tell they are playing "office politics" with their cast. Favoritism affects the stories they plan on telling.

I'm frustrated with the show, but there's still enough going on to keep me interested in next season.

I know how you feel, I felt the same way trying to keep up with Twin Peaks. Now THAT was a waste of time, although it was fun to watch for awhile.

I still have faith in LOST and have enjoyed the last two episodes.

I really did enjoy the last two episodes of Lost, but yeah, I really do feel like it's going the way of Twin Peaks. Soon we'll find out that Jack's dad is some guy named Bob.

Maybe he's Him of which Gale spoke. Locke got his legs back, Rose's cancer is cured, maybe Jack's Dad came back to life and that's why the coffin was empty.

I agree that it's starting to feel a bit X-Files where the individual bits of mythology plot are really cool, but we don't get enough real answers, and when they do, they don't make much sense.

I really hope that this series doesn't go the way of the X-Files, in which The World Is Going To End But Let's Forget About It And Chase Some Dumb Ass Werewolves Or Something.

As for the Twin Peaks comparison, I think we're safe from that. The producers and writers have said that they do have a plan, and from what I understood, Lynch and Frost didn't.

Right, they keep saying they have a plan, yet they continually introduce characters that they kill off because "they didn't have a story for them." They said this with Shannon, Boone and Libby. Why bring these characters into the cast if you have no story for them? Not only that, but these were characters that could have offered a lot to the story - especially Libby (not just her flashbacks, but she could have served a major purpose on the island).

Unless of course they kicked them off the show for other reasons and that line of not having a story is simply their cover story.

This show is different from XFiles. Chris Carter wanted to end XFiles after season 4 (I think) and just do XFs movies. But the Network said no and since they owned the rights they said they would get a new Writer and Director. Carter said F that and stayed on just to run it into the Ground. Lost? I think they have an ending. But they are making up the route on the way there. This is a pretty daring Show and somethings work and some don't.

One of the big reasons LOST feels like it's losing focus and kind of meandering is most likely due to the messed-up scheduling this season. The amount of repeats throughout the season has ruined the flow of the story. I bet this season plays a lot better watched on DVD.

Intelligent Design pointed out what wrong with X-Files. Twin Peaks also suffered from network interference. Lynch never wanted to solve the Palmer murder, but the network insisted. The show really fell apart once the killer was revealed.

Oh man, this is so spot on. I've posted before that I think ABC should do to LOST what FOX does with 24. No breaks. That month long break around the holidays, nearly destroyed Lost for me. Then, as soon as they come back with one ep, the following week is another repeat. Or one of those "special" shows that's intended to catch everyone up, which they wouldn't have to do if they didn't have so many breaks!

I have to agree on the Twin Peaks matter, as well. Any show like Peaks or Lost, needs to have a definite ending, IMO. You can't just play around forever, or it becomes more of a soap opera than it already is. But Lost is a huge hit, so it will have to keep going and that will kill it in the end. It's inevitable.

I have gotten a little torked with those clip episodes that tells us what has happened so far, too. A WHOLE hour wasted with repeat clips!

Yes, I am beginning to lose steam for Lost. I won't quit yet, but I sure am close.

I still think that Lost one of the two best dramas on TV right now, and the best network drama, hands down. Even a tepid episode of Lost is better than a stand out episode of most other dramas!

I agree. As much as the show frustrates me right now, I think it's the best drama on at the moment.

You two are seriously underestimating the overwhelming power of an episode of "According to Jim". Heh.

Minion: Might as well just roll over and give up once Belushi enters the picture.

And we should realize how cheated we are as human beings for never knowing all of Emily's reason's why not.

I think that show answered its own question.
