The last few years of the dc universe hasn't been the most certain place, but i'll say the stories coming out of it in general have been great. With the four minis, and the regular books tieing up the general events, to the reappearance of the one true Superman.

Shocking moments...

1. The Watchtower, gone. Manhunter "dead".

2. Superman, Superboy, and Alex Luthor breaking the wall.

3. The returns and deaths. From minor to major, a-list to z-list, no one is exactly safe around here.

Honestly, IC is a great story that relatively proofs one thing, and one thing only.

Geoff Johns, is a genius.

We have a storyline here, that is gonna tie into things going as far back as Crisis on Infinite Earths, taking into consideration every major plot point since then. Johns is the very definition of what a comic writer should be, working within the boundries of continuity and still keep things relatively straight forward.

*MINOR SPOILERS*

Personally, my favorite part in the series so far was when Batman was in the cave, emotionally broken and distraught about what he's done (Creating Brother Eye) and Earth 2 Superman shows up. Seeing Bats in that kind of moment of weakness was not something I've ever seen before and I even thought he was going to go along with replacing this earth with Earth 2, until he whipped out probably the most emotional thing I've ever heard him say. "Is Dick Grayson a better person on your Earth?"

Great story. EAsily hands down better than House of M.

Damn right, and its made even better witht the breif scene in Infinate CRisis 4 when he asks Dick about the old days, and Nightwing gets the child-like smile across his face, and you know the truth.

I liked the Day of Vengence special and can't wait to see where it goes OYL, especially with The Spectre, Shadowpact, and even the Marvel families' stories.

Great story from a great writer who you can tell has some sort of respect for the material. This story is just what I hoped it would be.

Just to get this out of the way

I've never been the most rabid fan of DC, but over the past year I've begun to take notice. First there was the excellent Identity Crisis, now we have the Infinite Crisis which is much better than I hoped it would be. Some of the scenes just really stick in your head. Like the aforementioned exchanges between Batman and Superman-2 and then again between Batman and Nightwing.

I think the one that got me the most was the fight with Superboy in #4. This has got to be one of the most brutal scenes of recent memory. Little foggy, though, on what happened to Wally there at the end...

Actually, I understood it as he became one with the Speed Force, but after re-reading it, I don't think that's it.

I just got finished reading #6 and now I'm waiting for #7 with much anticipation. I should have seen that last panel coming. I wonder... is this in response to the rights to Superboy being reverted to his creator's daughter and such?

All in all, I have enjoyed Inifinte Crisis, though I skipped most of the tie-ins. It will very interesting to see how this whole thing wraps up and what impact this will have on the DCU. Granted, the OYL titles have already started on this path, but they carefully avoid any reference to Infinite Crisis.

I think, you may see Conner back at some point. According to the latest issue of Teen Titans, Robin is attempting to recreate Conner. The question is, is he starting from scratch? Or is he starting from Conner's own DNA?

It looked like to me that Robin is taking Supes and Lex DNA to make a new Conner, which seems odd to me. You would think using Conner's DNA would make more sense because using a Lex/Superman cocktail again might not guarentee another Conner. Maybe that is part of the story. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about it, or not hard enough.

Um, when did Robin become a geneticist on a level with Lex Luthor? Did I miss something?

DeathScythe

who needs to be a geneticist anymore these days?
:P

Here's how I see it.

Robin got the tech from Wayne Enterprise. Or Wayne Tech, or whatever the hell it's called now. :p Then it's a matter of letting the computers do their thing and either Tim or Babs hacking into whatever files they need for it. Would probably be easier than you think, if you have the right tech.

and I agree about starting from scratch. How would you guarentee that he'll have the same personality or even looks as Conner. Seems to me it woulda been easier to start with Conner's DNA, which also, would have made the cloning process easier as they've already manage to mix the kryptonian and human DNA.

Course, if he used Conner's DNA, the genetic code of Luthor's would still be programmed in, right? That whole, turning Conner evil thing? Plus maybe, Robin thinks he can maybe beef up Superboy's ability to absorb the yellow sun.

Ahhh.... so many questions, not enough answers!!

Still, if they follow that storyline it's going to render the drama and impact of that moment....

Oh yeah. Comic book death. Got it.

Ok, lets work all the one year later scenarios to come up with what we know.

1. Superboy died at the end of crisis 6. Brother Eye is Dead as well, and a new checkmate is about to be formed(Infinate Crisis 6, OMAC Project Special)

2. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman disappear for a year, while their cities are covered by other heroes respectively (52, Action, Detective, Superman, and Batman)

3. Several of the spacebound heroes are missing and never made it back to earth, including Hawkman and Starfire(Teen Titans, outsiders, Firestorm, 52, Infinate Crisis)

4. Only 2 organized teams are left in the DCU and officially neither of them "exist"(Birds of Prey, Outsiders)

5. The JSA are in Shambles and The JLA does not exist. (JSA, JLA)

6. The Society has a new Leader. (Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bloodhaven, (Possibly Secret Six), 52)

7.The US government, The Society, and various other parties fight over Bludhaven.(Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bludhaven)

8. Ollie Queen has been elected the mayor of Star City, and Deathstroke is coming for him. Mia and Connor are missing, as is Arsonel. And Brick now defends the city. (Green Arrow, Teen Titans)

9. Robin is attempting to find out who killed batgirl, but it wasn't Cassandra Cain in the suit. And is Cassie stalking him? (Robin)

10. NYC. Nightwing is taking down the mob, but Dick Grayson is surprised to find he ain't the one doing it. Jason Todd is (Nightwing)

11. Oracle, Huntress and new operative Lady Shiva attempt to help a defector from the Society, but where is Black Canary, and why has she quit the team? (Birds of Prey)

12. Cyborg awakens to find Kid Devil, Rose "Raveger" Wilson, and Robin are all thats left of the titans. A new Brotherhood, and a new doom patrol lead by beast boy await as well. And Robin is attempting to clone Superboy. (Teen Titans)

13. Jay Garrick still has his speed powers, but no sign of Wally and Bart is "Kinda Retired"(JSA, Teen Titans, Flash)

14. Arthur Curry seeks to discover what happened to Atlantis and is mistaken for the real King of the Ocean. Could he be the real amneasiac Aquaman? (Aquaman:Sword of Atlantis)

15. Firestorm finds himself bonded with Lorraine "Firehawk" Reilly, after Professor Martin Stein goes missing (Firestorm: The Nuclear Man)

16. An attack by Doomsday, controled by Dr. Psycho is fended off by a group of regular heroes, no superman, batman or wonder woman necessary(Manhunter, 52)

Thats it for now. I will add more later, or anyone is welcome to add more.

Well, Yesterday the mystery came to an end. The heroes managed to fend off an army of villians in metropolis, with losses on both sides. SBoy Prime survives, but is now trapped in Oa. GA Superman gives his life to defeat. And Joker gets the last laugh on Alex Luthor. And Bats, WW, and SUpes "take a vacation"

As bad as that simplistic summary of events sound, The endgame came off as strong and as solid as every issue and moment of the whole thing. You get some great character moments, and some setup for the yet to be released OYL books, like The Spectre and Flash.

4 outta 5 stars for Infinite Crisis mini.
