In horror, like in other genres, there are actors and actresses who always make us think of horror when we hear their names. When film was in its early years, there was Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney. In the 50s, 60s and 70s we had Vincent Price and Christopher Lee. In the 80's and early 90's, there was Robert Englund, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Tony Todd. But is there anyone in Hollywood today who can call forth the terror of a victim or horror of a monster they've portrayed just by the mere mention of their name?

While directors and writers of horror are usually the ones focused on, this thread is for those actors and actresses who stand there and get gallons of blood dumped on them by said directors and have to say sometimes silly lines by said writers. But are there any that can be considered icons of horror in today's cinemas? Some actors that are getting there are Milla Jovovich and Brad Dourif, but there has to be more.

Neve Campbell. Other than Wild Things and Party of Five (which doesn't count because it was TV), can you name anything she's been in besides the Scream movies? I rest my case.

Jennifer Love Hugetits was starting to get that way with the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies (and haven't there been rumors of I Know What You Did 9 Summers Ago being made soon?) but has mostly advoided it by sticking to bland, non-horror TV.

Now that I think of it, Sarah Michelle Gellar definitely belongs on the list. I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge, Scream 2, Scooby Doo, and of course Buffy.

Yeah. Imagine that she makes that list with a movie that was a horror for its crappiness and not actually being a horror movie (Scooby Doo).

Neve Campbell was also in The Craft (define that one how you will).

Does Anna Farris count? (Heheheh).

Christopher Walken goes back and forth...

Honestly, given the way horror is percieved anymore, it's no wonder that not too many actors are willing to stay in the genre. With all actors today it all seems to be about diversity. So I don't think we'll ever see another Vincent Price or Robert Englund.

A little off-topic here, I would love to see Geoffery Rush and Gabriel Byrne do more horror (they're both good in those types of roles).
