Anyone who is not watching the NBC show Heroes(Monday nights at 9:00pm) is missing out on what is turning out to be one of the best shows ever put on television.
Not just superhero/comic-book related...I mean best shows PERIOD! The writing and acting are top notch and every episode leaves you on the edge of your seat. I tentatively had Battlestar galactica as the best current sci-fi show on T.V. but Heroes beats it hands down.
My favorite character so far is probably Peter Petrelli. The way they brought this character along, making you think that he had some screwy flying power that was unreliable(He was able to do it only once when he was with his brother who CAN fly) then you realize that his power is not flight at all.
He is able to mimic other peoples abilities when near them.

Hiro Nakamura is interesting as well. When he came back from the future with the katana and appearing downright ominous...it sent chills down the spine.
Anyways just wondering how many people are all over this show yet. it is shockingly well done and if you are not(for whatever reason) then you should be.

Well, I skipped reading this for a while because I was a couple of weeks behind. Not that I'm caught up, I can glady say how I love this show.
I too am a huge fan of Hiro and Peter. When Hiro appeared from the future at the end of ep 4, I jumped for joy at how awesome that was. It also reminded me specificly of some American and Japanese comics, namely X-Men and DBZ. Nevermind his power is like Dio and JoJo from JoJo's Bizarre adventure. All three of those he's a fan of and mentions either on the show or on the characters's blog.
Also, there are some online comics on NBC.com that have a TON of backstory to them.
The only thing I would suggest is to mark your post with spoiler tags. While I don't think the board code has any actual ones, just turn the text white so it's not readable unless you highlight it. If you have trouble I can use my mod powers and do it for you.

OMFG!! Did you see the last episode?1 I cannot believe it! This show gets better and better even after you think "Well, it cannot get any better. it has peaked."!
So many interesting devlopments. I have come to a surprising conclusion about Claire's dad in regards to his possible powers..*wink*
Cannot wait for Jan. 22nd and the rest of the first season.
BTW, I fixed my spoilers in teh first post Xenos as you requested.

I return from years of adventure to bad mouth this show for you. Mind you, I gave it a shot. Stuck it out for Claire. Her story arc was cool.... but not cool enough to imunize me from the goofy aspects of the show. Every week I would just barely be convinced to keep watching.
I finally broke free from the show about a month ago. It was when shadowcat guy and skitzo chick were inexplicably on good terms and on the run. Their kid suddenly had an owie. It was looong minutes of what looked and sounded like out-takes. The handfull of characters I liked (flying politician, claire & dad, psi-cop) couldn't make me endure the bad acting (really bad. Ur-bad!) , clunky story telling, and outright stupid tagline. I swore the clunker off right then and there.
Since then, I have felt better about it. I sure wanted it to be good. I even fooled myself for many weeks. I realize that this rant is going to chap the hides of more than a few of you. I do not slam this show to heap any slight on you or your tastes(as I would if this were a rant on Transformers  ) . I post this for the seldom seen other side of the coin.
May you continue to love this show and may it spur the creation of a better tomorrow for hero shows. And may I have the courage to watch a new one dispite the track record of all super-shows.

Sigh. Is it April 23rd yet?
It is now! How about the recent episode, set 5 years after the bomb? I thought that one was top notch, even if the Peter/Future Hiro attack in the Homeland Security building did seem a little Matrix-ey.

Eh, what isn't Matrixy. Not that Matrix wasn't a rip off of a bunch of different things anyway. Go watch Ghost in the Shell and then you'll be saying Matrix was a bit Ghost in the Shell-y. Plus Matrix was riffed on stuff like Superman and DBZ anyway. Oh and JoJo's Bizzare Adventure. That's the obscure one they knocked off that no one realizes.
Plus the whole ep was more Days of Future Past anyway.
Actually, speaking of JoJo and DBZ, Heroes's Hiro owes a bunch to them. Between the writers and the actor, they've dropped a number of homages to those manga series. From Mirai (future) Hiro being a homage to Mirai Trunks to stopping time ala JoJo's stand, these guys are giving a nice homage to something only a small pecentage of the audience knows about.
I don't know if it's someone else they hired or the actor himself, but someone keeps dropping actual references to a bunch of these series in Hiro's Blog: http://blog.nbc.com/hiro_blog/
Also, the actor has admited his manga fandom in various interviews:
