View Full Version : Question about "Complete Recordings" soundtracks

Hi, sleeping forum. :)
I was just wondering...after not being able to find any news on them anywhere....are there plans to release the complete recordings versions of The Two Towers and Return of The King, following suit from FOTR?
I can't imagine that it WON'T happen....but since LOTR seems at large to be "yesterday's news", it doesn't seem to be as easy to find breaking news on release dates, etc.....
....anyone heard anything?
Thanks, everyone.

Hmmmm...I'm not sure. I would love to hear news on this myself as the FOTR Complete Recordings is just awesome.

As far as I know, the complete soundtrack for TTT should be released at the end of this year, and the ROTK soundtrack next year.

Well, if you are a soundtrack/music junkie, then I think they are. I absolutely love the FOTR one. However, I will admit that they aren't for everyone, especially with the hefty price tag.

I am a soundtrack junkie, and the additional music on them is exceptional and essential, for me anyways.
Thanks for the info! :)

Not recently, but months ago I read that they were planning on releasing ALL the LOTR soundtracks as complete editions. And hoo boy, I am getting them all!

I suspect the next two will come out in time for the next two holiday seasons. I had hoped it would be sooner, but - alas - such is not the way of smart business decision-making.

Newbie here - kind of. Hopefully, a couple of you can stretch your memories back the days of the old Coming Attractions board (Strider, I know for certain you were there) - to those of you who apply, I can say: "It's nice to be home."

Hi, Aragorn - if you used the same screen name back on CA, I think I remember you posting on the LOTR forum there. :)
And, that's exactly what I've heard about the release schedule of the complete soundtracks, too.

Yep, that's me. :)
Ah, fond memories. I like that you guys kind of have a background color in a similar vein of the old board.

Yeah, I've been following a few soundtrack forums to get updated news and haven't been too happy with what looks to be the release plan. In all fairness, though, it appears that assembling those complete recordings takes a whole lot more work than you would think.

Great news that TTT & ROTK Complete Recordings will be released. I kinda suspected TTT would be around Christmas '06 with ROTK a year later. Personally I'd have preferred them a bit sooner, but with the cost, maybe it's not such a bad thing.
Re. Eldarion's post asking if they're worth it? As Strider said, if you're a soundtrack junkie, then definitely. But I think they're even more than a soundtrack. I got the original FOTR cd. Then I got 2 versions each of the subsequent movie soundtracks. After hearing FOTR Complete I now see my original discs as music from the films... The Complete Recordings ARE the film music. As I posted in another thread, I bought a home cinema system just to get the full effect of FOTR music in surround sound. The fact I can now hear my DVD collection in surround is an added bonus! :D I seldom sit through any full cd without skipping a track here & there. I simply cannot skip past anything on The Complete Recordings. Oh, and the booklet is a nice addition too.

Awesome. I can't wait for it. I barely discovered that it existed just a week or two ago (some lotr fan I am, huh). Anyway, I can't wait.
Since it's on the subject, how many people have the extended movie? Anybody watch the Fan Club Credits on any of the movies? And do you remember the last song on the Fotr Fan Club Credits? Does anybody have that song, or know where I can get it? The same with the last song on the rotk Fan Club Credits. Those are awesome pieces of music, and I wanna have them. I suppose I could just pop the DVD into my comp and rip it from there, but if there's some other place that I could get it, it'd be much better.
Thanks,
~regilas~

That is not on the Complete Recordings, as it's basically a pastiche of several pieces, but I agree that it works great as an overture piece on its own.
My suggestion is to rip the dvd if you like that as you hear it. :)

Yeah, I thought as much. Thanks.
I really want that one at the end of rotk, tho. The closest thing to it is the song of Theoden's death. It doesn't seem like it's part of anything, tho.
Anyway, thanks.
