West VA THIRD! I know that they whipped the crap out of Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, but come on. And who thinks UTEP or TCU could beat a legit top 25 program? This is a joke of a poll

Really, "post-spring" top 25? Does that mean anything?

Show me the same ranking in mid-October, then you'll have something to crow about besides the opinion of one sports reporter.

I know, I know. Preseason polls mean nothing in football. I just wanted to tweak you a little :D That UT/OSU game is going to be MAJORLY important to the national championship outcome, I think.

One thing seems clear. It isn't going to be so easy telling who the top teams are this year. USC and Texas were just an obvious step above everyone last year, and USC was the year before. So, it is a lot more interesting to me. I notice UCLA wasn't in the mix. They're my sleeper team for next year.

Get back to me in December.

Anyway, I want to emphasize a fact many of you may not be aware of.
Last season's championship game between USC and Texas was quite probably the greatest college football game of all time. The BCS got it right last year, but don't expect that to happen this year, or more than a few times in a lifetime.

In my entire life of watching college football, the game between USC and Texas was a true matchup of the two best teams in college football, and something I believe I had only seen happen once before. Very rarely will that ever happen, so just savor what happened last year and don't set your expectations too high for this upcoming year.
