ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, androids, ancient northern gods and kev_incals... Live from scenic Doomstadt, Latveria, welcome to the 4th annual Digital Concept Gallery Achievement Awards! Here's your host, the one, the only-- Doctor Victor von Doom!

DOCTOR DOOM: Welcome, pathetic ants, to the glorious Castle Doom. I have been asked by the insignificant so-called "powers" of Comics2Film to host this evening's festivities. Before I shall do so, however, I must tell all of you that soon, you shall all BOW before the mighty power of DOOM! Even now, my Inverted Matter/Anti-Matter Containment Generator Device of DOOM starts to draw upon the mighty power of Galacticus the World-Muncher himself [That's Galactus' wimpy little brother. -ed.], giving me, DOOM, the mighty power of a mighty GOD! And soon, you shall all BOW before me and proclaim me your rightful LORD and MASTER! Especially you, Reed Richards! In fact, you'll bow before me TWICE! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

[At this point, thankfully, a Monty Python style 16 ton weight falls on Doctor Doom: splat. B quickly rushes out in a hideous electric blue tuxedo to replace him.]

B: Uh, sorry about that...

ANNOUNCER: And now, ladies and gentlemen, your host... Turner D. Century!

B: What? Uh... Hi, everyone. Welcome to the 2006 DCG Awards. I'm pleased to announce that in spite of the somewhat decreased participation in the gallery nowadays, we received a record number of ballots this year! I'd once again like to thank everyone that voted; the awards would be nothing without you guys! And finally, there's one award that nobody voted on. Except me. And Dan. And Zac. And the rest of the mod forum. And some guy I met in a pub the other day named Bernard. Not to mention John Cleese and Graham Chapman... well, okay, I guess a few people voted on it.... Nonetheless, it's my pleasure to announce that the Christopher Reeve Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award goes to my predecessor as the Digital Concept Gallery editor, a longtime administrator of the C2F message boards, someone I personally consider an inspiration and a good friend (shh! don't tell him!) and someone who is undoubtedly one of the very finest artists to ever grace the hallowed (virtual) halls of C2F: Adam "Essex" Thur. Essex presided over the gallery for several years and was one of the people that kept this site running during a period when our revered founder, Robbo, was increasingly less involved with its day-to-day running. He updated the gallery five days a week during that time (technically ;)), and was also one of the most highly regarded photomanipulators at C2F... so much so, that in the inaugural DCG Awards, he won the award for Best Artist of the DCG. And he also found time to be made fun of by kev_incal's bizarre innuendo-laden pranks... (*phew*, thanks heavens that doesn't happen anymore, huh? :D) Now, for his services to C2F and the DCG community, I would like to present Adam Thur with this year's Christopher Reeve memorial award.

Well, that's that, folks. I'd like to invite the winners to say a few words, maybe give their own impressions of their award-winning work from this past year. I'd like to invite all of you to enjoy the open bar, assuming kev_incal lets you get at it. You're also welcome to post some absolutely 100% real images of yourselves arriving at the awards. And of course: have fun! Thanks once again to everyone who voted. See you next year!

 whoo hooooo! I gots me an award! *sniffle* seriously though, thanks for everyone who voted and participated in this year's awards. Thanks for the most improved award, there was some mean competition i had gone up against, their work is superb and i'm sure it was a close one.Congrats to all the other winners and lets keep on doing what we love and making c2f and the dcg a place where all kinds of comics-to-films fans can come and be part of our great web community.

So yeah, acceptance speeches...

I won! I won! Thanks to all who voted for me (and Hawk). I've had a good history with the DCG awards, but I wasn't really expecting to win any this year. It's nice to be proven wrong. :D I'm glad that folks seemed to remember that little pic I threw together for Dan's Ultimates contest in February more than I did; and I'm definitely glad my buddy Winterhawk and I had the quite insane idea to try to recreate the cover to JLA #1. To my opponents, I'm sorry we couldn't all be up here with a gold-plated copy of Robbo's cranium. Any one of you would have been an extremely deserving winner. But don't worry, I didn't vote for you guys either! So, thanks again, everyone. Next year, I'm going for Best Artist!

Assuming I remember to post something, anyway. ;)

...

PS, is it just me or is Kev's date just a HOTTIE? :D

Sometimes it is just good to show up...even in the unofficial categories.

I spent most of yesterday drowning my sorrow over not being nominated for any awards, in a tub of cheap whiskey (Sure, I did win a unofficial award, but that's like a Grammy. Sure, it's an award and all...but c'mon!)
But in a moment of clarity I realized that a party is still a party!
I somehow made it to the show, despite the odd fact that my invitation had the wrong adress... and was full of spelling errors...and hand-written on the back of a Burger King menu. (what was up with that? :?: )
Being mildy intoxicated, I don't remember much of the evening, but I'm sure it was fun. I do remember feeling someone up, but I don't know who it was... not sure I want to. And I have a strange memory of being surrounded by flashing lights when I went to take a leak. Not sure what that was about either... I just hope I didn't make a fool of myself. Well, more than usual that is.

Oh... My... Gawd!
Thankyou DCG. I am more than pleased with the result of these awards! I mean screw 'Best Artist' - I get to be freaken first to accept an award!! Albeit an "Unofficial" one. Wooo! '2nd Biggest Joker Junkie'! Alright!
I really scored big at this thing in an 'unofficial' sense.
But to be a runner up to Syd and to Haz, and alongside Roc and Mesa is a definate highlight of my artistic life! Sincerely - I'm stoked.
I don't wish to thank any deitys, cuz I think Santa is losing his hearing - but I do want to thank the powers that be of the DCG and all the amazingly skilled artists here for bein' so damn cool. And for consistently giving up gallery space for token sketches of Superman with chin mutations, and silly portraits on madnadoodles by the likes of me.
Cheers everyone.
Congratulations to all the winners, big and small, - official and "unofficial". Everyone was most deserving of their honours. In particular I'd like to congratulate le Pijon for his 'Best New Artist' nod. Well done buddy!
The red carpet shots were cool as per usual. Big cheers to B for redirecting mine here. Sorry I couldn't dress you as a woman for the background but I correctly assumed that Kev would have that covered. Outstanding.
I was pissed that Bill always gets the horniest dates. Not me.
The big problem I had on the night was some horny bastard monkey trying to feel me up.
That, and of course the thing with the trident.
Good times...
(- and the band abruptly play me off the stage -)

Ladies and gentlemen:

Maybe it’s only my impression but it seems that a huge amount of excellent new artists are posting manips, 3D pics and drawings here.
I want to express my deep satisfaction at being remembered and to thank those who voted on me. All competitors made awesome works so my surprise was genuine indeed!
You bet I’ll refine my skills and 2007 will be a better year!
I thank you all!

AVI: so no awards again this year jonny?

JOHN: thats right avi, while i was glad to be nominated, my skills were ignored again

AVI: well you won that MSPAINT award

JOHN: yeah but its funny, i dont even use MSPAINT

AVI: .............oh

JOHN: well tell `em the big news anyway

AVI: oh thats right. im going to have jonny develop the screenplay for the next big Marvel Blockbuster. such an amazing character, i really think this character`s pain, his love of elderly women and tandem biking really needs to be felt on the big screen. yes thats right ladies and gentlemen the "Turner D. Century" movie has been given the greenlight.

JOHN: we have a couple of people in mind to play Turner like Vin Diesel and Stone Cold Steve Austin. the villain will be Spider-man. we are just going to throw him in there and hope Sony doesnt notice.

Hello folks! What a huge honour to be recognized this way. I can't thank you all enough for honouring me with the Christopher Reeve Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award this year. It means a hell of a lot to me, as do B's extremely kind words in his announcement. It's really fantastic to know that even though I don't post art these days or manage the DCG, I haven't been *completely* forgotten. Though now that I've been given the Lifetime Achievement Award, I suppose it's all down hill from here!

I'm also extremely thankful for my unofficial award: Best Retired Stripper/C2F Personality. However, I'd like to point out that you can never truly retire from stripping when exotic dancing is ingrained so deeply in your soul, as is the case with me. I may no longer be paid as a stripper, but I shall never stop grinding up against any pole I see, for as long as I live.

Anyway, the awards this year contained so many incredible images. It's really a proud day for the DCG. The gallery would be an amazing place if it held only a fraction of the images nominated here, let alone the entire list and many more that didn't happen to be nominated. Phenomenal work, everybody!

Thanks again.

Hey guys, thanks for the recognition. Seriously, it's an honor just to be nominated. I'll take 'runner-up' among talent like this anytime!
But just a warning, Le Pijon - next year that 'best new artist' award is MINE!!

Finally got the right prints back after a mixup at One Hour Photo. First a little background on exactly what happened here. I had asked Jonny to try to keep an eye on Dave and Sonic but after they suckered him into a card game (I warned him about playing cards with those two!), Sonic had soon won Jonny's UK power blazer suit which forced Jonny into following their nefarious plans if he ever hoped to get his beloved blazer back! Since Jonny had lost his clothes in the card match, Sonic loaned him a Ranger Danger outfit from his giant trunk of Cosplay outfits which did not make Jonny any too happy as it was hardly an ample replacement for his blazer. As for me, I really didn't think I was going to make the ceremony. After taking a red eye flight to get there in time, I was feeling under the weather and was going to quietly sleep through it all. Much to my surprise, Dave, Sonic and Jonny broke into my hotel room along with a couple of my studio models who'd revealed my whereabouts (traitors!). I could see from the crazed look in Dave and Sonic's eyes that they'd been into the Joker gas again. The next thing I know, they'd slapped a newbie sticker on my tee shirt and the group of them carried me out of the hotel and to the awards ceremony in my underwear! (You know, guys... I really did bring a rather nice suit... I mean, even some pants would have been nice!) I took it rather good naturedly as I was assured that this happens to the newbies every year (which I've since learned is a bold faced lie!). So for those of you who were wondering why I'd shown up to such a formal event in my underwear, well there you have it! Next year, guys... it's your turn!

:D But seriously, folks...
Thank you, DCG!! I am stunned! It truly was an honor just to be nominated for something but I really never expected to win anything, especially considering the monsterous quality and talent of all the nominees ... any of the other nominees for Best New Artist might have beaten on any given day... Daruma, Shade, Flinshady and Walley are all great talents and it's rather difficult to make direct comparisons between all our styles given our diversity of approaches. Still, hats off to all you guys because talent wise, you all deserve this as much as I. I guess, it just goes to show, my shameless pandering for votes really did pay! :) And now, I guess that means alot of people to thank sooooooo thanks to all the nominating judges, that's a whole lot of pictures you guys had to sort through!, I'd like to congratulate all the winners on their victories, both official and unofficial. Heck, I think I'll congratulate all the nominees, in fact! There's been a ton of great pics to come through the DCG this past year so I'm sure several great artists were overlooked but all of the nominees certainly had that special something in their work. Thanks, DCG artists for all of your contributions and thanks mods and admins for putting up with our antics! Thanks especially to those artists who take the time to share their reviews with others and a big shout out to my homeys who always provide me with some regular feedback... I'm talking about Dave, Jonny and Sonic, of course! Congratulations to all you guys on your awards too (even if you don't use MSPaint, Jonny)!
Oh, and Daruma, it's all you next year, bud! :D

So I woke up wearing someone else's underwear (again). They have Winnie the Pooh on them, so I'm inclined to think they're Zacs. Or Bs. Or Zac AND Bs.

Some beautiful and spirited work this past year - great job all.

So I was browsing through the site today and noticed I managed to win in a category that I didn't actually produce anything in this year. :D (Have you actually SEEN the B&W lineart for Bolderella?) So in order to help fix this I would like the title passed to Lord Mesa for his pic of Snake Eyes.

In regards to Le Pijon's mostly true recollection of events, I'd just like to clarify that it was Sonic's Joker gas we hit - not mine, and it was Jonny's gas inhaler we used so I was not responsible for any of that, or anything else that happened later on.
And I think Jonny's mate Avi was hittin' somethin even harder, cuz that dude was messed up!
Good news though, I hooked up with that studio model on my arm - and accidently left my own date at the awards.
She might still be there actually....
