One of the biggest issues I've found is colouring. In terms of using photoshop as a tool Im on such a prehistoric system that colour palette is backward. I want to use inks but i dont know where to start??

At this point, even most of the die-hard old school colorists have switched over to using Photoshop but if you're really determined to this old school, I believe Doc Ph. Martin's colored bombay inks and brush used to be considered the comic colorist's tools of choice. :)
