Ok, so my best friend is moving in with me and we're getting two German Shepherd/Poodle (Shepoodles, or Poopherds (which is funnier)) puppies, and I'm trying to decide what to name mine. It's an all-black puppy with shaggy fur (the other one looks the same but with short hair). Take the poll above, where I've got a few name possibilities, or click "other" and suggest your own. Pictures to follow!

Howzabout "Kinko" and "Tenacious D"?

Are these boy puppies or girl puppies? If boy puppies, I'm partial to "Dinsdale" and "Spiny Norman." (Unfortunately, my kitties are all girl kitties, so I couldn't use those.)

:) I voted "other", even though the first four are nice names....

Cosmo.

Name him Cosmo.

Oops, sorry, both puppies are boys. And I do like Cosmo, that's another possibility....

I voted "Other."

I tend to allow the personality of the animal suggest a name. Since it isn't my dog, I'll have to wing it here:

Name 1: "Homer" (many possible associations here, not just The Simpsons)

Name 2: "Kong"

Name 3: "Punkt" (German word for "spot." You said it is half Shepherd . . . ) or "Tache," the French word for "spot," if the dog seems to have more poodle than shepherd in him . . .

I have no idea what you should name them, but all I know is that you can't name a poodle, regardless of what else is in the mix, "Anubis." I think it would be an afront to the gods and your dog might get hit by lightening.

hmmm, I do like Bill's suggestion of Cosmo, go with Cosmo.

I voted "Anubis" since it was one of your choices.

But I have another suggestion.... Mr Eko. You have to be a Lost fan though. :)

Woohoo!! My friend just picked up the puppies! It looks like mine is the short-hair, and he chose one that has black and brown coloring. The short hair is apparently VERY energetic, so maybe Flux will work after all, though I do still like Cosmo (I'm also leaning towards synonyms of Flux, like Fuse or Rush).

I am partial to Shakespearean names when it comes to dogs.

Banquo

Tybalt

Lear

Balthazar

Laertes

Horatio

Lucent

Malvolio (Mal for Short)

Oberon

Polonius (I would name a Doberman or Rottie this)

Proteus

You will never be comfortable giving it a name you didn't think up. I know I wouldn't.

He's adorable. He's a lot feistier than his brother Mouse (they're both very aptly named it turns out!).

Beautiful puppy. But get him some dark-colored bedding unless you want everyone who visits to see how diligent you are at vacuuming. :D
