Since we don't have a Comedy forum anymore I am posting this here. Move as needed.

I was wandering around MySpace today and ran into this:

If you can write and film a interesting idea for a new comedy series then you may win $50,000 to create a pilot and pitch it to FX.

Any aspiring comedy writers out there besides myself? (I just don't have a good idea for a series)

Not an aspiring comedy writer, but I have been known to tell hilarious stories.

I think it might be safe to say that in Jakester's case, "working on a premise" is wasted effort. If he just uses his own experiences as the source material, and is humble and honest about them, that will be plenty funny enough!

It would probably turn into a porn with bad jokes.

I've got a premise but don't have the slightest idea how to write a script!

Go on line or to library. Get informational text on writing scripts. Read text. Write script. It really is that easy.
