View Full Version : Need Tips On Recoloring Hair.

I was wondering if any of the photomanippers could give me some help with recoloring hair. I am working on a manip of Supergirl and I want to change the model's hair from brunette (brown) to blonde (yellow), and I'm not sure what the best way to go about doing that is. Any ideas? :idea: :?: :?

it's a lot harder to change darker hair to light than the other way around, so my best suggestion would be to frankenstein it out and get new hair from somewhere else. with brunette hair, even the highlights are dark in general, so lightening the entire mass of hair is going to grey/wash it out (think lighting from black to white, you get a whole lotta grey). light hair, on the other hand, uses a fuller spectrum, and darkening doesn't necessarily take away too much color either.

so yeah, i've always had better luck just franking new hair.

the easiest for me was to just recreate it from scratch.

however if you want to use the existing, treat it like any recolor. drop the hair to greyscale, maybe throw in a few extra lighter spots as blonde hair would pop a little more than darker hair. then begin the process oif bringing it to blonde using color balance, hue/saturation, etc.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Keep those suggestions comming. It's going to take me some time to finish this project and so far I've got a number of different things to experiment with to get it right.

Yes, that's exactly the tutorial that I found on another website that I was going to try, except that it wasn't in video format. Now, that you've given me this link and I also have the other one that I found, I'm going to be able to finish my Supergirl project! Here's hoping it all works out great. :)
