Stop w/the Superman Returns bashing

I’m so sick and tired of “so-called” fans of the Superman mythology bashing Superman Returns. Look, this was the perfect story to re-launch the franchise. There had to be a story told, and for new fans who never saw the old Superman movies, there had to be some visiting of history, re-telling the origin of superman w/o doing an origin movie. I remember when the first X-Men movie came out; a lot of people did not like it. But for all the true fans like myself, I was very pleased with it. There’s only so much action you can have in a movie where you are establishing the character(s). You can’t have Brainiac, Doomsday, Zod or the other villains for the Superman rouges gallery in a re-launch of a franchise. Look at Batman Begins, Bale did not don the Batman costume until halfway through the movie, and his most notorious enemy, the Joker was not even in the movie. And yet the move still rocked! That’s what sequels are for people. Just like Star Wars Episode I. I heard so many fans complain about it. Are you kidding me? As a Star wars fan since I was 5, this is the story I wanted to see! How it all started. Superman Returns was a perfect blend of re-launching a franchise yet recognizing Superman I and II. Stories had to be re-told, characters had to be re-introduced and re-established. And all this I’m hearing about how we need to have Lex Luthor like Smallville’s version of Lex. I don’t think so. Not taking anything away from Michael Rosenbaum. He is amazing portraying Lex Luthor. But Spacey’s performance of Lex Luthor, in my opinion, is how the true Luthor is. Cold, Calculated, an extremely intellectual genius while bordering on the line of psychotic and heartless demeanor. That’s the real Lex Luthor. You can only have so much action when Superman’s enemy is a mere human. And Singer found a way to bring Superman down to Luthor’s level. Which Luthor always seems to do. It added a new aspect of their rivalry, hatred of each other. And the story was great. The tension between Lois and Superman, the bitterness Lois felt upon his return, and showed towards Superman, we as fans have never seen that. So stop complaining, because apparently you are not a true fan. True Superman fans like I waited a very long time for this movie, and seas not disappointed. Now as for Routh and Bale in the Justice League movie. Both WILL not be in the new Justice League movie. I did catch a show on G4 over the weekend called “Attack of the Show” and they spoke in detail about Tom Welling indeed playing Superman. And with this season of Smallville possibly being it’s last, (hopefully at least one more season though) that would fit right in to Welling’s schedule.
