I shared this question with Sickness when he came to visit a couple of weeks ago, and I decided to go ahead and ask you guys why this is so?

I bought a case of Smithwicks - bottled. Fine stuff.
A good beer. Not the best, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.
At least, that's what my opinion was after trying my first bottle.

A few days later, I went outside in the Georgia heat, and mowed the lawn.
After a good hour plus, I came back inside all sweaty and muscles throbbing,
and downed a bottle of Smithwicks - and for whatever reason,
IT TASTED LIKE THE BEST BEER I EVER HAD.

A couple of days after that, when I was having pizza for dinner,
I grabbed me another bottle and found it tasted just like the first,
making me conclude the same opinion I had when I tried the first bottle.

Question: How could this be? Why should doing a physical workout make beer taste better?

Anyone have ideas for this?

I can only suggest you seek wisdom from "The Simpsons"; as the great philosopher Homer once suggested,

ALL WORK AND NO BEER MAKE HOMER GO CRAZY!

I expect something similar is at work in this instance. :D

It's not just work. It's ridiculous hot weather, too. On a 95 degree day with 80% humidity, you can grab an ice cold can of High Life, and it tastes like ambrosia. Very similar to the social smoker as well.

And, for the record, I finally tried Smithwick's when I was at Traz's place (thanks again for the hospitality, bro). Decent but not great. However, I did not experience the legendary laxative effects of said beer, thankfully. That automatically gives it a few extra points.

Oh, and we had a blast rockin' it on Turok: Evolution. That will be our tradition, man.

Side note: In an exercise of bad statistics, I think Traz and Lady Traz feed the family chili 365 days a year. I've been there twice a year apart and it was chili both times.

Alright dude. Next time, it's black bean chicken soup for you,
with tortilla chips, sour cream and Emeril's Gaaahlic medium salsa sauce
on the side, and WINE. :smirks:

My mouth is watering already!

BTW, there's another rafting trip in either August or September and I just may be able to swing it on the end of a trip to Houston. That would put me in your neck of the woods much sooner than a year from now.

The hotter it is, the shittier the beer can be and still be fantastic.
