Yes, I know you've seen it, but look at it again. I love this movie beyond my love of most movies. There is just something about it that hits the right chord in me. When it came out, I saw it 5 straight days at the theater as it just freaking blew me away. I am watching it right now. I love this movie.

I saw this movie a handful of times when my age was still in single digits. It has Sean Connery and midgets, right?

Frig, this movie rocks my world. I remember this one in the theaters, too. My mom is into sci-fi stuff, so we went more, I think, because she wanted to, but I really dug Star Wars, and I really dug going to the movies. But wow. This flick was AWESOME. Ya know what? It still is.

It's nice to know that sensitivity training is paying off, Kah.

Explaining would take all the fun out of it.

Terry Gilliam has a penchant for really bad endings to good movies.
The studios rake him over the coals for it every time without fail.
Brazil is another excellent example where the hero loses his mind at the end.

So here's a question for you to ponder - if you were the director,
and you were going to return the boy back to his intolerable suburban sprawl
with insufferably closed minded parents, would you?

Just a thought.

And btw, I don't think I'm taking all the fun out of anything. I haven't answered the question
to why it ends like that - have I?

My mom wanted the Connery firefighter to take the boy. I didn't agree.

What Gilliam movie has a bad ending? I like Fisher King, Time Bandits, Jabberwocky, Brazil, Baron Munchausen, and 12 Monkeys. Crap, I still haven't seen Don Quixote. I suck.

Not to mention the classic line, by David Warner:
"... dear Benson, you are so mercifully free from the ravages of intelligence."
