This sounds like a rehash of the original Superman II.(Kryptonians come to earth, team up with Luthor to destroy Supes...yada, yada, yada.)Can Singer make an original Superman movie. Please stop revisiting the past!I\'m tired of this sad sack petty criminal movie version of Lex Luthor also. Give us the Smallville version of Lex who\'s not evil, his good intentions just go horribly wrong.Plus...Lex and Clark having once been friends would bring an extra dimension to their conflict. Please no more Singer Superman movie\'s. He blew his chance and made the most boring Superman movie of all time. He needs to read more comic\'s as a reference. He got everything wrong. It might as well have been Spock in the Super suit cause Singer\'s Superman lacked emotion. I just didn\'t care for any of the characters. I did like Perry\'s son though now that I think about it.

I’m so sick and tired of “so-called” fans of the Superman mythology bashing Superman Returns. Look, this was the perfect story to re-launch the franchise. There had to be a story told, and for new fans who never saw the old Superman movies, there had to be some visiting of history, re-telling the origin of superman w/o doing an origin movie. I remember when the first X-Men movie came out; a lot of people did not like it. But for all the true fans like myself, I was very pleased with it. There’s only so much action you can have in a movie where you are establishing the character(s). You can’t have Brainiac, Doomsday, Zod or the other villains for the Superman rouges gallery in a re-launch of a franchise. Look at Batman begins, Bale did not don the Batman costume until halfway through the movie, and his most notorious enemy, the Joker was not even in the movie. That’s what sequels are for people. Just like Star Wars Episode I. I heard do many fans complain about it. Are you kidding me? As a Star wars fan since I was 5, this is the story I wanted to see! How it all started. Superman Returns was a perfect blend of re-launching the franchise. Stories had to be re-told, characters had to be re-introduced and re-established. And how we need to have Lex like Smallville’s version of Lex” I don’t think so. Spacey’s performance of Lex Luthor, in my opinion, is how the true Luthor is. Calculated, extremely intellectual, genius while bordering on the line of psychotic and heartless demeanor. That’s the real Lex Luthor. You can only have so much action when Superman’s enemy is a mere human. And Singer found a way to bring Superman down to Luthor’s level. It added a new aspect of their rivalry, hatred of each other. And the story was great. The tension between Lois and Superman, the bitterness Lois felt, and showed towards Superman, we as fans have never seen that. So stop complaining, because apparently you are not a true fan. True Superman fans like I waited a very long time for this movie, and seas not disappointed.

I really don\'t understand why Warner Bros. are putting and giving this Bryan Singer so much credit and creative control doing these superman movies. First of, Superman Returns was one of the biggest flop involving one of the biggest comic book icon of all time. I can go on and on and on, but I\'m not going to go there. Plain and simple he don\'t need to do anymore comic book movies. He need to stick with straight to video movies or get into other original production. I thank God that another live version of JLA are in the works, so we can look and forget about what Bryan Singer destroyed. I agree with knossis2003 on the already %$@! sequel that is planned. I hope that is a rumor. Bryan Singer don\'t need to do anymore Superman movies. Just think, why do you think Smallville is still on the air. Right, because of a bomb ass movie like Superman returns.

Just to clarify what I posted earlier. I love Smallville episodes. I just remember that the producers was thinking about ending the series because that Junk Superman Return was coming out at that time. However, superman returns movie being the piece of $%#@! movie that it was, Smallville decided to stay on the air. I\'m so glad that it did. Smallville is getting better and better every season. I really hope they do cast Tom Welling as superman in the new JLA movie. I believe and have little faith in Warner Bros. the are a smart company, because the Superman returns was so disastrous, it is good that they are revamping Superman. Loved Batman Begins. I just can\'t stand Bryan Singer!

let\'s face it, superman returns isn\'t as bad as its detractors complain and batman begins wasn\'t the masterpiece comic fanboys would have you believe. the \"missing\" superman years (why couldn\'t he have told anyone esp. Lois, that he was leaving?), the son of Superman was weakly handled, and it was somewhat derivative of the classic Superman film. Batman Begins opens strongly, but loses steam in its third act and finishes in a mess that was no better than the endings of Batman Forever or Batman & Robin. Kate Bosworth was weak in SR? Check out Katie Holmes in BB. Did Batman Returns learn its lesson about \"two villains spoiling the pot?\" I believe that most people who didn\'t like/hated Superman Returns didn\'t like the character to begin with, and with the current popularity of \"dark\" heroes, Batman is an easier sell.

Alright, so today\'s younger generation (generation Y?) is familiar with the concept of Brainiac being Kryptonian. But, in the Supes movie universe was there ever a mentioning of Brainiac being the \"Super computer\" for the entire planet of Krypton? Better yet, was there ever a mentioning of Krypton even having a super computer at all? Yes, I know Bryan Singer has a track-record of tossing in his own ideas and warping that comic\'s universe in his movies... Just take a look at the first two X-men movies. Rogue took the place of Jubilee/Shadowcat as the lovable \"kid\" personalityand don\'t even get me started on the look of Mystique and Nightcrawler. The kid in Superman Returns was his idea as well. I already knew who the kid was right after they introduced him in the film. Not sure if it connects with the time Lois and Clark slept together in Superman II, but that\'s really the only time I can think of when it could have happened (and Lois live! ).:-o Brainiac would be a decent villain, no arguement there, but I for one would love to see Myztleplik! (spelling error I\'m sure!) They could still keep the Kryptonian in the film though and have \'her\' fight Supes with Lex! ;-)
