Every time I see the VW commercials with Peter Stormare (I think) where they "unpimp" (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/02/22/vw-strikes-again-un-pimp-my-ride-videos/) the ride, I laugh my ass off.

"What does this do?"
"It sucks in air."
"It's definitely sucking."

The Sprint "Crime Deterrent" (http://tvcommercialblog.com/?p=21) commercial is just hilarious.

I've always liked the Jack in The Box commercials, all the way back to when Jack was "psyching" Col. Sanders. The newer one, where the employee asks Jack why his head is so freakishly large is truly a classic. And the earlier ad where Jack was sharing about his fishing trip with one of his antenna balls (who was being used as a bait float), remains an unsung masterpiece.

The greatest Jack commercial ever was the one where he first returned in 1994 and blows up a bomb in the board room. Unfortunately, an ad exec became one of the Unabomber's last victims a couple weeks later and it was pulled.

If you folks haven't seen them yet, here are those VW commercials that kah is talking about. They are, for lack of a better word, brilliant.

Unpimp Your Auto is pretty damn brilliant and Peter Stormare is perfect for it. He's a true chameleon, at least in American cinema and TV / commercial productions. His last major movie appearance before the UYA campaign? Satan in Constantine. He was in the damn movie for 5 minutes and practically stole the show.

IMO, the best commercials ever made were with Dennis Hopper for Nike in the mid 90's...

"He's a freight train man! Choo choo! Choo choo baby!"

Does ANY one remember these commercials?

"...and when he gets going, what happens? Bad things, man..." I'm told it the character was based on some mildly retarded psycho he played in a movie back in the 70's or 80's. Made for a hell of an overzealous NFL/Nike fan, though.

Normally I hate those "Easy Button" ads from Staples, but I love the one with the "copy cat" ... the sight of that cat painting a pie chart with its paw cracks me up every time.

I like any euro commercial that contains naked boobies.
Oh, and that dutch one where the family plays that song that goes "I want to fuck you in the ass" but have no clue what it means because they don't speak English.

I like those VW commercials too. And the "Theft Deterant" one as well that Kah mentioned.

Actually, I love physical humor in commercials. My all time fav (that I wish I could find) is a Staples (or maybe it was office depot) commercial that shows two guys walking with in an office saying they have this very important presentation memorized, well one of the guys turns a corner and slams face first into an open file cabinet drawer knocking himself out. They cut to the typical "Staples has everything you need, blah blah" and cut back to the second guy telling the big boss that "Don't worry I have it all up here" but while pointing to his head his other hand slips off the table and he smacks it with his head.

I was literally in tears. I have no idea why, but that stuff makes me laugh. I'm evil.

The MacGyver Mastercard commercial still makes me laugh.

The SUV commercial where the furry CGI muppet looking things rate the vehicle. "It scares the *bleep* out of me."

Ditto the Staples ones with the copycat and the guy walking into the desk. I like the Gatorade (http://www.gatorade.com/film_and_downloads/commercials/) commercial with the little kids bodies and sports' players heads.

I remember the Dennis Hopper commercials. :o Does that make me old?

Yeah, they are. Most of the men I know already live by those rules. If they don't, well, then they're pussies, so we don't really associate with them unless we need some entertainment. It's a riot watching an emasculated man try to manuever in public, especially when it comes to entering a public restroom.

Kah, you have GOT to be kidding me! You like those ads? I cannot stand the fact that the voiceovers are the most annoying redneck/bubbleheaded voices ever. Honestly when was the last time bubba and joe-bob hacked into a bank's transaction server? Hell, when was the last time 2 rednecks from the south TURNED on a damn computer???

If they wanted to make it realistic, the voiceovers should be in Russian or Mandarin. That's where all the fraud takes place. :(

You really believe that? You don't need to turn on a computer to steal someone's identity. You just have to pick up their garbage and look for the preapproved credit card letters, then send them in with a different address. Or buy SSNs from the thief at the social security office or the college financial aid office (http://messageboard.cinescape.com/cinescape/forums/showthread.php?t=1112&highlight=identity+theft). Or take bills right out of someone's mailbox and wash the checks (http://www.identitytheftfixes.com/avoid_becoming_a_check_washing_victim.html), making sure to copy the signature first.

Ok, I guess they could be referring to that, I don't pay enough attention to those commercials to actually listen. I guess I always assumed they were talking about online security.

The commercials that had me rolling, were the old Dominos pizza commercials, back in the late 80's. For example, Dominos was advertising a scratcher contest and the ad shows an old lady bowling. Only the lady flung the bowling ball behind her and it goes out the window and imbeds itself in the sidewalk missing a guy by inches. Unaware, the guy is standing there, rubbing away at the scratcher and realizing he had won, says "hey! I won. Must be my lucky day." Then continues walking, stepping over the ball.
