I have a little chapter in my book where I chart the closing moment of the film.

It takes each film and has a yes/no checkbox for each of the iconic features of the "Oh James" moment. Does the woman say "Oh, James!"? Does Bond make a double entendre? Are Bond & the girl on or near water? Is Bond interrupted or spied on?

The least iconic endings are OHMSS and GE. (We can anticipate that CR will also be atypical.)

Anyway, what's your favorite Bond ending? (I'll add mine later.)

I thought there were only three "Oh James!" moments where you actually hear the phrase "Oh, James!" Octopussy, A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights.

I would go with Goldfinger for my favorite Bond ending. Love the self-assured arrogance in Connery's delivery of "This is no time to be rescued." I also think as non-iconic endings go, you can't forget Baron Samedi laughing on the train in Live and Let Die. I always kinda liked that one too.

EDIT: Woohoo! 50 freakin' posts! Sorry I haven't been able to contribute as much lately. You know, work and all that. Maybe I'll work up the courage to post my own little piece of fan-fiction - my treatment for a hypothetical fifth Brosnan Bond movie (set partially in Ireland no less!)

I don't have my MS handy to give you the exact count, but 3 is probably correct. I was surprised how few it was.

I love LALD's; that's a pretty bold ending, very startling. My favorite iconic ones are TB (love that sub) and DAF. I just adore the way Tiffany makes Bond sweat for a second, then turns it around.

Are Bond & the girl on or near water?
lol! That reminds me of an alternate ending to the first Austin Powers movie (you can see it on the DVD), with Bond and Vanessa on a raft after Dr. Evil's lair explodes, and Vanessa says: "Austin, how did we get on this raft?" To which Austin replies: "All my movies end this way."
