I gotta admit I was hoping for Banner to get caught by the fallout of an atomic bomb, like in the comic, but on seeing the homage paid to the tv show and the way Bixby's version of Banner became the hulk, I'm more than just cool with it, it just looks pretty damn cool, with the crosshair on the forehead and everything...
But still would have prefered a huge bomb...
:-D

The Bixby device is a nice touch.

But as much as I LOVED watching the old show, I never really considered it The Hulk. To me The Hulk was the big monster who could throw tanks, leap across the desert and take a bullet without blinking. And he talked...in monosyllabic monster talk.

And yeah...he got his powers in an explosion.

So, as much as I like homages to the old TV series, I do hope that the filmmakers draw more from the comics.

With the Abomination and Doc Samson in the mix, it sounds like they will!

I think this shows without a doubt that it's a reboot (if anyone wanted to still argue that the new movie is ambiguous as to whether it really does rewrite the previous Ang Lee film). I do like the nod to the old Bill Bixby show, and it looks like they have faithfully recreated the gamma machine and even the lab, with those x-ray charts in the background. I do wish there was the gamma bomb though as that has never been faithfully recreated, but I guess the Bixby gamma machine is miles better than the version of his origin that we had in the Ang Lee movie. Now if they have that eerie, dramatic music with that almost militaristic motif that they used to play in the series, that would be awesome. And imagine if it shows Banner's first transformation in the midst of a thunderstorm while changing the wheel of his car!

Good stuff.

This is a classic TV moment, for sure!

Even as a hard-core Hulk comic fan, I got chills seeing that sequence for the first time!

Looks good. I'm looking forward to this one almost as much as to Iron Man!

I just had a look at the old clip of the gamma machine from the TV show pilot on Youtube. This new version really is just a nod to it, because it's much larger and more updated than the original version. The TV show one looks more like a dentist's chair with a much larger head/neck brace, and Bixby has this crossbar bit in front of his chest where he can adjust the controls. I don't think there were actually x-ray charts in the original either, although I could be mistaken - I think the x-rays are a nod to the effects they used to use in the show where it showed his physiology/ cell structure being changed internally during the gamma countdown.

Here's a clip from the intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TujifzRVETA

I hope they keep the Lonely Man tv theme for this new movie. Such a famous theme - it doesn't have to be the main theme but at least it can be used in the show at certain times and possibly at the end too.

BTW I read a Wizard article that they have bought the rights to the Joe Hartnell Lonely Man theme, so they will be having that in the film as well!

Excellent news to hear about that classic theme being in this movie! I remember watching the old tv show with my mom and hearing her remark at how that theme would send chills up her spine. It didn't quite have the same reaction to me, but in my mind it will always be THE theme for the Incredible Hulk.

So far this movie looks like it will blow that "other" Hulk movie out of the water. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this movie will put Hulk back on the map in movieland!

The way I interpreted it is that the movie while not being a sequal to the recent croaker does pick up five years more or less after those events and we find banner / hulk on the run from thunderbolt.

At the same time that he is running and hiding he is also seeking covert employment at labs and facilites that have the gear and equipment needed to try and reverse the condition.

That would lead me to believe that the images we have seen are not the images of the original event but of subsequent events where he trys the reversal.

What I also have heard is that Doc Sampson may be involved in the story.... which really makes me wonder about the she-hulk in my own perverted lusting for hot green babes way.
