Last night's episodes of Scrubs were great as usual.

The first episode, a take-off of Wizard of Oz had some great moments. Turk knocking over all the basinets in the nursery domino-style cracked me up, as did Dr Cox comment on children:"They're loud and you can't understand them, they're like tiny little cab drivers."

The second episode was great. It combined the absurdist humor Scrubs is known for with real-life emotions. Watching the Ostriches kick JD and Turk around, steal Turk's kangol and chase them down cracked me up! But the part I liked most was how they brought it back to the 'real' world.

You wonder how, in other sitcoms, anything ever gets done because the characters are always on some wacky misadventure. Here they show the consequences of something. Because all the main characters were off doing something, a patient was left to interns and died. Even though they were exonerated because of a mistake in Xray, Dr Cox still managed to bring them down at the end by pointing out that there's a widow and fatherless children out there who lost their dad. AND even though it wasn't their fault, it easily could have been and they should take their jobs and lives more seriously. Great message and great counterpoint to the wacky humor.

This show consistently makes me laugh and almost always strikes an emotional chord with me. NBC is doing a great disservice by not promoting this more and moving it to Thursday night to be with Earl and The Office.

You summed it up pretty damn well, omi.

What I really like about this, what I've always liked....is how the writers mix the humor with the real life emotion on this show.

One second you will be laughing your butt off only to have a real emotional truth come round the corner and strike you in the face.

Case in point, the Brendan Frasier episode from years back. Humor and some very funny scenes all the way to the end until Dr. Cox and our lead meet in the funeral(circus?).

Laughing turned to verge of tears real quick there. Not just once but quite a bit through the shows span now, the writers have always known how to mix it up and bring real depth into each of our favorite characters. Quite a bit of growth from all, including the writers.

I, too, wish they would move it to Thursdays....

Scrubs to My Life as Earl to Office would be a 1,2,3 Knockout punch for a tv lineup..

Have you bought the dvd sets yet? They're really good. Definitely recommend them.

Yup, got seasons 1 and 2 as soon as they came out. Love them, and they have alot of extra stuff on them. Quite frankly, if they released a DVD of just the janitor's deleted scenes, that would be worth almost any price. :)

That reminds me. Was the janitor's idea of what to do if they won the lottery not hilarious? "I'd buy a trained shark" and then he's talking on the radio to it, waiting for JD to jump in the pool? :D

I missed last night's episodes due to a Stinking Walmart demanding a install all nighter job. :romy:

I bet it was hilarious...Janitor man rocks, too.

Too bad I don't have a decent home theater/computer setup, I could digitize my tape of the hour and send it to ya. :)

I am sure it's available off of bittorrent or something. :o

Another back-to-back, last new ones until after the Olympics, I believe.

First episode was ok. Admittedly, it just smacked of guest star/ratings play because of Mandy Moore's relationship with Zach Braff. Still JD's line when the freaky looking chick walked into the resturant was great "Mrs Fields, you blue haired bitch!" I felt that the Dr Cox/Carla b-story was sort of pushed aside so they could concentrate on JD. Plus, don't forget Turk, Ted and Janitor's air band. :D

Second episode was also ok. Got to love Billy Dee Williams cameo. It was also nice to see the internal monologue from another character, especially one that is not really used like Carla. Jordan's 11 OBGYN visits in one month to the cute gyno was hiliarious, as was Dr Kelso's problems with his gay son's scathing musical Dr Dad. It was nice to see them get serious a minute and have Dr Cox explain to JD that if just sitting with a person makes you happy, then you will get over the little things that annoy you.

Post-Olympic new shows, gotta love em! 2 new back-to-back.

The first episode was hilarious! I love the raccoon in the shower, and watching JD run into the cabinet. I also like the Cox/Janitor scene. I bet most of Janitor's lines were ad-libbed. "I move stuff around, turn off his alarm, and sometime cut his bangs" Nice callback with Busey when Eliot put her picture over Julie's face on the poster. "now it looks like we're sitting on a unicorn." "That's not me, it's Gary Busey" "the resemblance is uncanny!" How cool is it that the Janitor has an A-Team van?

Second episode wasn't as funny, although the scene of the Todd coming back from Chinatown had me laughing. And the end with the janitor talking to Sanchez the crow cracked me up also.

No more back-to-back new episodes, but they are showing cast member's favorite episodes. Last week it was cool, they had running commentary from Zach Braff online. Sort of like a DVD commentary, only realtime. I wonder if they will do it with the rest of the actors.

The new episode was pretty good. I was surprised I wasn't as nearly as affected with the death of the old lady as I thought I would be. Maybe because I knew she was going to die, but it was still not shocking. Dave Foley was good as the grief counselor, especially how he basically just ignored Dr Cox's rants. I did crack up laughing when JD exploded the can of Dr Pepper all over Dr Cox's Porsche.

This was a decently funny episode. How cool are 'wristie talkies'? Still, the episode just seemed a little disjointed. I never really got into the flow of it. There were some great one-liners, like Dr Cox rooting for the disease when he was talking to the pain-in-the-ass patient. I also liked JD finally getting the best of the Janitor at the end.

Second episode was a rerun, and I have to go back and watch it with the downloaded commentary from Sarah Chalke. Plus it had the nurses in tight, pushup uniforms! WOOHOO! :)

Another pretty good episode. I love how JD was using Keith to get to girls. I have to admit, I used to do the same thing. :o It was rather creepy how the girl loved hair, though. And don't get me started on how funny some of the people looked shaved bald. *shiver*

I loved the Janitor's rant about the head in the locker. How much you want to bet Neil Flynn just winged it? :) And I love his comment when Carla discovers he's wearing a cup. "People try to hit me there more often than you'd think." His character and Dr Cox are definitely my 2 favorites.

2nd episode was a rerun, and Janitor and Dr Cox do the commentary. I downloaded it to my laptop today, I will have to watch it again. I imagine it will be great :)

And is there ever not a good time for a *BOING* mouthharp sound effect? I think not!

Yah! Turk and Carla are preggers. This episode was good, and very touching. It was funny how they had to trick Carla into taking another test. And my favorite line of the night was JD's: "We just lojacked a janitor" And watching the Janitor run the hurdles with a smoke cracked me up.

Speaking of which, NBC is letting fans choose the name and gender of the baby via a contest on NBC.com.

Good episode. Man, Elliot looks good with her hair curly. :eyebrow:
I love Cox insulting Ted. I've never found a loser so funny, although his call to his mother was really disturbing. And Kelso's crack about Cox being like House only without the limp was a great crack.

Tom Cavanugh is great as JD's brother Dan. Another good episode from him, although not as good as the episode when their dad died. The threesome scene was funny and creepy. :)

Loved the gay baby test.

I wonder if Janitor adlibbed the speech about his older brother? After hearing some stuff about Neil Flynn and seeing his outtakes on the DVDs, I wonder if they ever write any lines for him or just let him go on his own.

Bad news, I forgot to tape last week's episode. :(

Good News, rumors have it that NBC has renewed Scrubs for a Season six.

Second part of last week's story, when an organ donor with Rabies infected 3 patients. It was pretty moving to watch DR Cox go nuts, because he pushed for the liver transplant and it killed a patient that could have waited for another organ.

This week was good, and it was nice at the end to see Dr Cox rally and everyone help him. And there was some great laughs in the show. The "More You Know" PSA had me rolling. Jordan's lines are always funny. However, I still have a couple of problems with this episode.

First off, what happened to the Janitor's intervention that they showed in the commercials this week? I kept seeing it while watching hockey this weekend, but I never could hear the lines. I am sure Janitor said something pretty damn funny.

Second, why the hell didn't anyone just slap Cox and tell him to suck it up??? Maybe it's just me, but I got slightly sickened by everyone trying to cheer him up and all the melodramatic revelations by Dr kelso and JD. I really expected JD to just slap Cox and tell him "Suck it up, you pussy!" And I think that's what Cox would have responded to more than the lovey-dovey approach.

This episode totally freaked me out. I was watching it and thought it was a rerun, until I realized the gag. It was so wierd watching scenes and remembering the original. It was also hard to tell when they were totally copying a scene, or just modifying it.

I loved the line from Turk:"Did you just bitch-slap my beer?"

I love Scrubs and this season was one of the better ones, however there was a running gag that never failed to annoy me. JD's movie "Dr. Acula" is a rip off of a joke from Tim Burton's "Ed Wood". Ed Wood pitches the idea of a movie called Dr. Acula and is rejected. It's a funny scene. I guess the writers of Scrubs thought it was funny too. Too bad it wasn't their idea. For a show that is so original, I'm surprised to see them resort to copying others' jokes.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt... maybe the writers are friends with the guys who wrote the movie. ..maybe they see it as an homage.. I don't know.

Yall know how much I love this show. However, the ending of this season left me a little flat. I really didn't like how they resolved the Dr Cox alcoholic phase. It was too touchy-feely sitcomy for me. I really think he should have just snapped back or had a big confrontation with JD. Not the Dr Phil crap they did.

Also, the ending really made me go 'What??' It's hard to picture JD with Dr Kim, since she appeared(literally) out of no-where. She just seemed to ecentric to be real. I know, I know, this show doesn't exactly have a great grasp on reality most of the time anyways. But unlike some of JD's past interests, this just felt like a gag. Maybe it's just me.

The whole 'I'm Pregnant' thing is such a sitcom situation, I almost expected the "Wahnt-wah-wah" sound effect. Let's see, barely 3 weeks after they had sex, and she knows? Not to mention 2 doctors and they didn't practice safe sex? And the fact they were surrounded by old gay couple on the lawn of JD's porch? It's just too hard to believe.

Still, this show is one of the best comedies on TV, and I really wish NBC would promote it better. The scene in the opening credits when Dr. Kim stopped the music and reversed the Scrubs xray and saying 'it's backwards, that's always bugged me' just cracked me up!!

I've been catching up on old episodes on Toronto1 up here. It's a show that has been vastly underrated and still cracks me up on a consistent basis. The roomie was resistant to it at first, but has since fallen in love with Dr. Cox's lines. It's worth it just to hear her laugh at his lines because, while they are bitter and sarcastic and biting, they're also mostly true. :D

Oh, I love this show, and I've got the previous seasons on DVD. However, this year just isn't really doing it much for me. It still has some moments, but I just haven't connected with it as much as I have in previous seasons.

I catch this once in awhile in reruns, and I love every one. Dr. Cox is my favorite. This is a show I would consider buying the dvds.

Scrubs, again one of the few shows that breaks thru my "no sitcoms" rule. Like the other exceptional ones, it breaks the traditional US sitcom formula.

This show ROCKS.

Thanks to the greatness that is DVR and the fact that Scrubs is on like 8 times a day, I watched tons of episodes this weekend. I really like the older episodes. I rewatched Thursday's new episode and for whatever reason, I just am not into this season.

It seems too be getting to wacky and sitcom-y. Stealing an RV to go see Kim? JD still sleeping in a tent on his porch with no house? Him having a medical condition that causes him to pass out when he shits? It's just getting silly.

Still I laughed when he was in jail and helped initiate a gang member

I will still watch it, but this season just doesn't seem to grab me like the older ones do.

I read today where Zach Braff sign on for one more season, at 350k per show, I wished I like quirky music and had messed up hair then I would be rich to. I hope that maybe they don't "phone it in" like it seems to be this season.

omicron

I agree, this season is really not getting to me. Last week's episode was just not interesting. There doesn't seem to be a real coherence to this season. What happened to Dr. Kim and her baby? Why was Elliot all of a sudden making out with the patient? What about Keith? I don't know, I really think this show is slipping.

On that note, CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/13/television.law.reut/index.html) states that it might move to ABC. While this would have been good 3 years ago, now that it's on Thursday with some other decent comedies, I don't see the need.

As I've said before, this season really hasn't grabbed me like past years. However the past 2 weeks have really grabbed me. This weeks episode was one of the best I've seen since the Brendan Fraser one. The heartfelt goodbye at the end by Carla had me floored.

Still it was uneven. Didn't we already see Dr Cox with a shaved head in the clip episode a couple of weeks ago? And what happened to Elliot's kiss with Private Dancer? And why was Nicole Sullivan there when Carla was mentioning seeing people? My god, they did a whole episode with Fraser on that subject. Sure he might not have been able to gueststar, but you could do a flashback.

I did like JD's shadow puppet theater of Pearl Harbor. And him getting to be godfather and name the baby makes me not want to wait to see how Cox reacts!
