I have been wondering myself if Sci-Fi will pick up season 2. I found this and according to this info, I would probably be in shock if they didn't pick up season 2. Good news and here is the article. :jump2:
Who Boosts SCI FI Ratings
The new updated Doctor Who boosted SCI FI Channel's ratings on Friday nights by double digits, the network reported. The new version of Doctor Who, produced by the BBC, wrapped its first season on SCI FI on June 9.
Doctor Who averaged a 1.3 household rating and 1.5 million total viewers in its 9 p.m. Friday timeslot, a 44 percent increase in ratings and a 54 percent increase in viewership over the same timeslot in the second quarter last year.
In key demographics, Doctor Who averaged 778,000 viewers aged 18-49, a 57 percent increase over 2005, and 942,000 viewers aged 25-54, a 56 percent increase.
Executive-produced by Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner, the 13-episode hourlong drama starred Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper.
Well it makes sense. The second quarter of 2005 had reruns on in that timeslot. Nothing against the Doctor, I love the show, but reruns are reruns.

I watched the First ep of season 1 on Sci-fi and was soo hooked I downloaded the whole first season and watched them over a weeks time. Since my hate for The Sci-Fi network has no limit I will do the same thing once the BBC finishes airing S2. :smirks:

It isn't surprising though, is it? Dr. Who characters have never stayed around too long!

Your right. Plus Billie Piper has a music career doesn't she? I mean, CE was a given. They needed to make a splash to bring the character back and I just didn't see them keeping an actor of his caliber (he does alot of film) being tied down to a series.
I think they did their job in bringing it back. So as long as they round out the cast will good actors, the show should be OK. Can't wait to see whats in store.

Has anyone heard if Sci-Fi is planning on showing the Chistmas episode? I heard a lot about it and would love to see it!

Ok I just finish watching S2.The look of the new doctor is so diffrent from the old Doctor it takes some getting used to. I think this new Doc is perfect for the role though. I won't spoil this season but "Girl in the fireplace" is one of the best stand alone scifi eps I have ever seen. Also the last ep is very very heart wrenching Billie brought the acting skills big time in that ep. I can't wait for S3 and Torchwood.
It's like talking to someone from the future! :D

I've been all over the BBC site collecting wallpapers for my screensaver. Although I've read recaps of S2 including "Doomsday" I can't wait to see it.
I  David Tennant.

I've seen the Christmas special and season 2 begins airing in October here. See if you guys hadn't rebelled in the 1700's you could also get Doctor Who first run without cable. Well... you win some you lose some I guess.
Rebelled? Well, you either lead or follow. GB leads. US leads. Canada . . .

Seems to me if we hadn't rebelled, we wouldn't have been there to help you guys out in that little ol' war in the 40's, and you guys wouldn't be around to create Doctor Who. Just sayin......

Maybe it still would have happened? It would be Doctor Wer instead.

And DR. Wer would be the enemy and the Daleks would be the heroes.

Interesting news on Dr. Who. You'd think people would like seeing more alien worlds. Also, I've heard of the "Torchwood" spin-off, but what's this "The Sarah Jane Project" spin-off?
Cost keeps Dr. Who Earthbound (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5359552.stm)
Costs? Too expensive?
They have forsaken their roots! Doctor Who doesn't need a budget.
But, I loved the rock quarry! My father and I used to watch the classic series together and we would wait for the quarrry!
Ah, for the days when all you needed was a quarry, a out of use police box, and a scarf!
Pretty soon, the Doctor is going to fix the TARDIS so it can change shapes again, I bet. Bye, bye, police box. :smirks:

I am watching the "School Reunion" episode of the new season. Sarah Jane Smith is on it. I am weeping . . . with joy . . . and the moment Sarah realizes that "John Smith" is THE DOCTOR made me weep even more . . .
O M G . . . It is freaking K9 . . . his first word . . . "Master?" . . . I am bawling . . .
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a FREAKING episode!

I agree, just watched that episode last night, started getting a little misty-eyed when they were saying goodbye, and I swear I almost lost it when
Sarah Jane found out that the Doc had fixed K9 and he was there waiting for her!
