Returns to MTV ( http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2006/112_news060614_galpin_auto_sports_pimp_my_ride/)

Wonder why they moved away from West Coast Customs?

I'm wondering the same thing.

There might not be no bad blood here and it's just another garage picking it up cause WCC had to say no due to a busy schedule. No doubt they are always busy on the market.

There may be bad blood though due to one question I've always had about the show.

It's a financial question. I've always wondered the percentage of financial responcibility for fixing up every shows given ride. No doubt they have poured QUITE alot of money into some of these rides and I've always wondered what was the ratio of who was paying for what? Mtv pays what percentage for every ride? WCC pays any percentage? Xhibit pays any?

There may be bad blood and there may not be.

Comedian Flip Shultz has a funny bit about Pimp My Ride

Flip's MySpace page (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=8253512)

It's the first audio clip.

I think they should move away from WCC. I just couldn't watch "Fuck Up My Ride" after the first couple of years. It just disgusts me watching them pour tens of thousands of dollars into a car, and then not even bothering to paint the door jams, or just pouring new oil into a weak ass motor. They did stupid shit like that all the time. Why would someone need 10K in stereo equipment, if the car is only going to make it another 2K miles? Just ridiculous. That's why I watch Overhaulin'.

I agree with Kah on some points. I like the idea of the show but they always put a bunch of really useless shit into every car. The cars don't need a bunch of TVs and DVD players it's a car, the people are driving it. It seems like they should work more on souping up the engine and other essential parts of the cars. I'm not a car expert so I wouldn't appreciate everything they are doing but everybody can tell what a sweet engine looks like. They just look better.

The WCC guys had some good personalities though. I would get rid of Xhibit or teach him to act on camera better because he's always making lame jokes and then laughing at them himself.

I always assumed quite a bit of money came from sponsors because they mention the names of car companies and the manufacturers of the stuff they put on the car. All of the really high-end stuff gets plugged very well by the guys fixing up the car.

I actually caught this last night(purely by accident). It's pretty much the same. The shop guys still act like 8th graders doing a stage production. It's campy, over-the-top, and blantantly obvious.

As for the whole premise, it's mostly 'all show, no go' type mechanics. They are basically accessorizing the car, not fixing it up. I find it funny that they'll throw all this gear in a poor student or Starbucks employee car, knowing the kid can't afford the insurance. And don't mention the cost of replacing those low profile tires every 10K miles or whatever.

I am sure a large portion of the budget comes from MTV and most of the stuff is probably donated by manufacturers or sold to the shop at cost.
