This is a movie that is for adults only, but it is a truly original, and oddly enough insightful story and film that transcends the concept of "taste."
I sat through it slack-jawed when I saw it at a cult screening some years ago. As disgusting, disturbing, and twisted as it is, it must be seen to both be believed, and to allow insight into places most of us wouldn't think to go.

I saw this movie at age 20. It's been a favorite, as well as many others of John Waters, since. :)
But there ARE those I would not recommend it to. :ohwell:

And I can wholeheartedly understand why. Some movies require a certain, uh, "suspension" of moral values in order to appreciate them. I know that there are times I can't suspend mine in order to appreciate a film. It is just that John Water's vision for the film had a certain light-hearted quality to it, that let me know not to take the film too seriously. I could handle it from that perspective.

Precisely, and why I utterly reject countless mainstream movies with less moral depictions of murder and mayhem.
It's Waters' movies and writing (his books are hysterical) that came at a time in my life that I felt comedy and everything else was as bland as a suburban street.
