Personally - and with the direction the show the last couple of seasons - I'm glad they're gone. And off course hats off to Tom Welling, and anyone from the cast, who raised questions regarding the portrayal of his very iconic character.

This makes me more the willing supporter in the capmaign to get him cast as the next Superman for the big screen. It is always important to have an actor who understands the charcater he's playing.

If you are fans of Welling and want to support this effort, then please sign the petition to the WB. Here is the link:

Smallville has been terrible since around the third season or so. Not only has the back and forth between Clark and Lana been truly annoying but you would think they could finally come up with a villain that wasn't meteor powered. I don't watch the show now (but my wife continues to) but I thought the design for the Black Canary was terrribly bad and the whinning factor was more than any sane person should ever have to deal with. Between Smallville and Superman Returns, I don't think anybody at the WB has the slightest clue what Superman is about or how to treat the character.

Humm? Said something earlier but it didnt post...

Superman Returns was a travesty!

Superman is supposed to be the BEST of humanity. Not because he's human... but because he strives to be the best of what humanity can be. In the best comics he is shown trying to live a life that is an example of all the best that we can be... valorous, dignified, responsible, and moral.

The recent movie tried to update the character by making him relevant to todays morality--- ie: the lack thereof... he not only has sex with Lois, but he nocks her up, then abandons her (As if with his super senses wouldn't detect the pheromonal and biological changes in a pregnant lois

((OOPS!) my bad!)

In the comics and the movies we have seen Superman do things with his sense that would invalidate the "baby-daddy" situation...

So not only is it a silly premise... its morally out of character for superman.

get a clue WB!

ps... no giant spiders!

Even though I like Smallville, it has been annoying this past few years, without the realism. The dialogue is annoying and has so many pop culture references that I'm amazed these characters even watch Clark Gable movies. I realize they can't have real dialogue of teenagers or college students, because they would sound like idiots but enough with the references.

And speaking of college, do they even bother attend classes anymore?

Hopefully with their departure, there will be some more realism to the stories. And maybe we'll actually see Clark in his suit!

These dicks should have been fired 3 years ago. Hopefully Smallville regains some of the magic it had in seasons 1, 2 and 3.

I love Smallville but the deal with Lana and Lois has been drawn out way too long. They need more superpowered villains that are not meteor powered. DC has so many villains they haven't even had on the show. Batista made LOBO look stupid when he got killed by Martian Manhunter. Hopefully someday Clark will fly.

I really started following comics because of Smallville in about 2001 and it was my favorite show and stuck up for them when they have the occasional terrible episode (Too Fast and Too Furious Pete) But I Haven't watched Smallville since season 5 right around the time they killed off Jonathan Kent. The show completely lost the feel it had in the previous seasons. And for the record, any real fan of the Comics or Superman knows that both of the Kents are alive and well. The inconsistency at that point bothered me i could deal with Pete Ross finding out the secret first instead of Lana which is still pretty ridiculous and I haven't watched in almost 3 seasons but I would really have a problem with that now. (Same thing with the old Superman Movies and New one. Killed off the Kents and Superman has a kid and Lex Luthor is the Villain again, very nice) Its very disappointing they could have ended the show after they graduated from high school and it would have been alright. As for Tom Welling putting on the tights in a movie or the show. That was the whole thing when Smallville started No Flights No Tights and Tom Welling in many interviews has stated that he would not play Superman in a movie. It has nothing to do with a studio not offering him the part. I'm very disappointed in the show and in Superman and Hollywood in generanl my only hope is that they make their show and movies give us a 10 or 15 year break then come back, start over, and do it right Batman Begins Style.
