About once a month I have an awful nightmare that ends with me waking up sobbing into my pillow. Last night I dreamt that I had just taken a position as a medical examiner, and had to perform autopsies on both of my grandfathers within 2 weeks. There was more to the dream, but that was the horrifying part.

My mind just creates such cruel fantasies of its own, that I find I don't care to watch horror movies. Does anyone else have vivid nightmares like mine?

Wow. That's a nightmare if I ever heard one. :(

My wife had one where after her beloved great Uncle passed away,
and on the night after his funeral, she had a dream where he
was outside her bedroom window at night as a vampire trying to get in.

Pretty freaky.

Especially since one of my grandpas, whom I miss very much, has been dead for 6 years.

Yes, your just deceased relative coming to haunt your dreams as a vampire is pretty damned scary.

My nightmares usually cast the classic monsters of Hollywood.

One with Frankenstein walking steadily down a LONNNNNNGGGG corridor
in a spooky dark castle, and even though he was a long ways off,
I could see his figure coming towards me, with a BOOM-BOOM sound
to each step he took. There was no escaping it. And he got me.

One with Dracula, but he was asleep in his coffin. I wanted to kill him
right there with a stake, but I was afraid to wake him up.
Don't remember too much after that.

One with with the Mummy that started with me playing with a bunch of school kids around a big water fountain in the middle of a city park at night.
All of a sudden, everybody scatters screaming as the Mummy trumps
through, and of course, heads straight for me instead of the other kids.
I then bolt for an abandoned tenement building, run up the stairs, and hide
in a room where he did NOT get me. Thank goodness.

And last but not least, one with Sasquatch.
In the dream, I was stuck on the top of Stone Mountain (http://www.sphoa.com/PhotoGallery/Trip_to_Hodges/images/Lou%20over%20Stone%20Mountain%20Wide2.jpg) with the
cast of Gilligan's Island and a white duck. One by one, starting with the
duck, they get picked off in the pine tree forest at night with the moon
shining. Soon, it was just Gilligan and Skipper left, and myself. They
bolted into a camping tent, and I in another. I could hear the sasquatch
tearing them to pieces amidst a thunderstorm of bloody terror,
and before I knew it, he attacked the tent I was in....
...and that's when my Mom woke me up to go to school.
THAT was the ONLY time I was SO grateful for her waking me up!
This was in 1986.

Mine are always about someone I love coming to a horrifying end. My bf, on the other hand, always has nightmares about animals. One time it was because his mother's dog was sick. Another one was about a giant gopher. Never could understand his nightmares.

When I was younger, I had a recurring dream that our house was being attacked by vampires. Not just one or two, but like two dozen. One by one, everyone in the family was attacked until just I was left, so was running around the yard and house trying to hide from them. Sometimes I'd wake up right after getting a good hiding spot, and others, I'd wake up right after they found me.

It's weird (to me) that so many people find vampires terrifying, but I don't in the least. Ted Bundy scares me. The movie Cybil still gives me nightmares, and I saw that once in high school. I am much more afraid of psychopaths than monsters or aliens or mythical creatures.

My wife a few years ago dreamed that her and I were suddenly
vampire hunters, all decked out in tight fitting black leather outfits.
We took turns kicking vampire a$$ Blade-style, and she said I looked HOT. :D

So Jakester, next time you dream of them vamps haunting your house,
let me know and we'll come over and clean house. :D

Man. Where's Bokchoi when you need him?

That's the thing, though. Vampires generally don't bug me. Giant insects, however...eeesh. But vampires, aside from that one recurring dream...not so much. And I had that one dream a lot -- almost like Prince of Darkness a lot.

I had Photoshop open for a work project. Here you go, it pales in comparison to Bok's skilz. I rushed. Just putting heads on bodies. No art. I'm ashamed.

As for my nightmares. Spiders, even though I am not afraid of them in regular every day life, I dreamed of having hundreds crawling all over my house, couch, myself, in my mouth, etc. Fun stuff.

Other than that my dreams don't often venture into nightmarish territory. Or if they do, I forget them. I like to dream I am sitting underwater able to breath or flying.

You guys have generic funny dreams when I was younger I always had to battle Freddy krueger.

But my older sis has the most scariest dreams like some strange dude kidnapped my young nephew and he was crying while the guy was laughing and in the dream my sis tried to get to him but couldn't.

also she had this freaky one not to long ago in her dream she was laying down in her bed. In her dream and she said these like little hands started to grab her legs, under the covers they started to grab her arms and back and she described them as if kids hands were grabbing her pinning her down, in the bed she was moaning when I went in to check on her she then woke up and started to cry I was like whoa that nightmare would keep me awake for day's. So if you guy's have any other dreams that can top this go right on ahead.

In my dreams, you speak as poorly as you write, and to remedy this, I kill you. Unfortunately, that doesn't shut you up, so I cut off your head and skull fuck it BUT YOU WON'T SHUT THE FUCK UP. You keep TALKING AND TALKING IN THESE RUN-ON SENTENCES AND EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE SPEAKING, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE MISUSING THEIR AND THEY'RE I CAN SEE IT IN MY HEAD AND YOU WILL NOT SHUT UP NO MATTER HOW MUCH I TRY AND I EVENTUALLY DROP YOUR HEAD IN A VAT OF ACID BUT WHEN I PULL OUT THE GLEAMING SKULL, IT IS STILL TALKING YOU WON'T SHUT UP AND I AM SLOWLY GOING INSANE.

I think Jake needs to post his hotness points rating system.

You know:

not dead: 10 points
female: 10 points
has any hole: 5 points

etc etc.

kah

Is it 5 points per hole, or 5 points total just for having a hole anywhere?

Horses + me = never gonna happen

Think of something else.

I have a recurring nightmare.
It happens in a Subway Station that I know in Toronto.
I'm getting off the train, late at night, when I hear footsteps behind me. I know I'm being followed, but I don't know by who. he figures are shoadwy and indistinct, but definitely menacing. I start to run, bu they follow me the length of the platform, whooping and hollering and chase me up the stairs to the upper level and the bus platform in the subway station. I'm almost to the doors that lead out of the subway station to the community Police Station across the road from the station when they shoot me.
I can feel the back of my head cave it, and I can feel the pressure building behind my eyes, and just when it feels like my eyes are about to explode out ogf my head, I wake up...

Yuck. I hate those type of dreams. Mine usually just involve a physical attack, though. I don't remember if I've ever been shot in a dream. I don't want to experience it either. I think I tend to have those dreams when I am tangled in the sheets, or the bf is sleeping too close.

Ewie I hate spiders!!! I'm horridly phobic of them & compulsively clean my house every day in an attempt to rid myself of them.

But I've never had a nightmare about them, those are just my surface fears, they say that you dream about what you really fear the most b/c dreaming delves into your subconcious or something like that.

When I was a wee lil' tike, I used to have this nightly nightmare about those darn martains from Sesame Street swallowing me in their huge mouths; of course I know that its stupid now, but I still have that dream sometimes... except it always ends with me mutilating the damn martain in some way LOL. Sence then I've had a dream where I was chased in the woods, persued by zombies in a mall with a group of people & hung at the salem witch trials LOL LOL.

I have nightmares, but not as good as my brother. When this happened I was to young to remember. My sister's tell me that he would sleep walk. One of the stories is that he thought his room was on fire. They heard him screaming, went to check on him and found him peeing all over his room because he was trying to put the fire out. He would also run up and down the stairs because someone was chasing him.
