Well, if I'm willing to blast officials in other cities for corruption, I should be willing to air my own hometown's trash, so to speak. For the record, I haven't lived in San Jose for almost a year.

San Jose is solidly Democrat while the valley is more even-keeled so this won't affect the party in the city much at all but I'm curious what the ripple effect will be outside the city. I have very little doubt that Gonzales will stay to the end of his time as mayor which is just 7 months away due to the standard 2-term limit for executives. It's long before the trial will even start, let alone deliver a verdict and he's a lame duck at this point anyway. However, he is the highest profile politician within 300 miles with the exception of Gavin Newsome (and, perhaps, Jerry Brown but his recognition is still as much for his time as governor as it is for being mayor of Oakland). I'm curious to see the effects of this scandal.
