Ok, so I heard Barbara Streisand is going on tour, which is apparently very rare for her (like, never), so I figured, well, I'm not a huge fan, but that is probably one of those "once in a lifetime" concerts, so I thought I'd go check out dates and prices. YIKES!!!

First of all, let me set up an economic perspective. I recently saw Madonna in Chicago, where I managed to get floor seats. The tickets were $350 apiece (totally worth it btw), and those were the most expensive (the cheapest were $55). In relation, the cheapest tickets for Streisand are $350! We're talkin nose-bleed seats here where you can barely see the giant video screens they put up for people in those less-than-stellar seats! The most expensive seats are a whopping $750! DAMN!!! Unless most of this money is going to charity (I have heard rumors to that effect), that is the craziest thing I've ever heard! Can she really command those high ticket prices? I thought Madonna was a stretch, but my God! Ticket prices are just getting WAAAAAY outta hand.

I don't think I've heard of Babs touring in my lifetime because she has a very big issue with stagefright. If they are charging that much for tickets, it's because people will pay it. My dad has been a fan of hers for 30 years. He won't pay that much to see her, but he would certainly think about it. Babs doesn't usually sell tickets to the young and poor.

I remember people bitching about paying 200 or 300 for Eagles tickets a few years back.

Just to give an idea of what ticket prices for some current shows are:

Celine Dion in Vegas- $75-$500 (and this is a regular show, done every day)

U2 in Hawaii- $200

Ashlee Simpson in Atlantic City- $44-$150 (now come on. she's not even a real singer)

I remember paying $65 to see the Rolling Stones in 97. A couple weeks later, Eric Clapton was in town, and his tickets were the same price. The more expensive tickets at those concerts were around $100. That was a lot then, but now it seems to be the average price for tickets to see a nobody. It really has gotten out of hand. I'd rather spend $33 for lawn tickets for Ozzfest and see a bunch of bands. Or spend the $1000 for the Ozzfest Platinum Package to hang with Ozzy and write it off my taxes.

She did a farewell tour a TWO YEARS ago that was touted as her FINAL tour. Now those fans who paid exorbitant ticket prices are suing her because she's touring again.

They should sue for her getting on stage and torturing them in the first place. By the way, I have no idea if we're talking about Madonna, Celine, Ashlee or Babs and I really don't care. My statement applies to all of them.
