From the Chicago Tribune...
"William Shatner will be the subject of Comedy Central's next celebrity roast. "Roast of William Shatner" will be taped in Los Angeles and then likely cleaned up a lot before it sees the light of day. It is scheduled to air August 20th."

Canadian actor William Shatner will join television legends such as Lucille Ball and Johnny Carson in the U.S. Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame this year.
"The Television Academy's Hall of Fame honors a lifetime of excellence and is a special recognition for those who have made significant contributions that will leave an indelible mark on the television business," academy chair Dick Askin said in a statement Monday.
It's sure taken long enough.

That... ahem.... abortion of Rocketman is actually a guilty pleasure for me. There is something about it that I find positively entertaining... "positively entertaining" as in "not a train wreck."

I love it. Watch it--and sing it-- all the time.

I kinda wish it was the Friars doing this and not Comedy Central. Honestly, I think the roasts they've aired independently from the Friars have sucked.
A few years ago, I actually got ahold of an old book written by Milton Berle about the Friar's Club. It was hilarious, and you could tell it was written by an older man remembering the good old days. There was no continuity, just memories as they were remembered. Good stuff. :D

Roast Bill, eh? Hmm... he is getting porkey... would feed quite...
Wait, Comedy Central not the Food Network...
Shatner is awesome, he no longer takes himself seriously, if anyone asked he'd probably do Rocketman again.
