*Checks watch*

Yeah, its that time once again. Time for a full scale reset of the x-men verse. Spanning out of the recent Decimation and Deadly Genesis, Ed Brubaker(Gotham Central, Captain America, Batman, Daredevil) and artist Billy Tan take over Uncanny X-men . The only Confimation on team sofar is Rachel Grey and Havoc, as the story continues in the aftermath of the deadly Genesis mini, and the end of Chris Claremont's latest run on the title.

(new)X-men will also get a new creative team following Pete Milligans final arc, The Blood of Apocolypse. The new writer will be former Hellblazer and Lucifer writer Mike Carey, along with current Uncanny artist Chris Bachalo. Carey in an interview with Comic Book Resources (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=6494) has confirmed his team to start will be Rouge, Iceman, Cannonball, Cable, Mystique and Sabretooth.

More news as it comes.

Update: Newsarama's Joe Friday's (http://www.newsarama.com) has confirmed that the starting lineup for Brubakers run will be Havok, Marvel Girl (Rachael Summers), Nightcrawler, Professor X, and first-time X-man Warpath. Preview art is up on the site as well.

Also, Joe Q confirmed that Milligan and Claremont will have new projects in the x-men line, but its too early to reveal them.

Update: 3/2/06: Claremont has announced GeneXt, which will be a story set 15-20 years from now, as an aged group of the current students at Xaviers, make their choices. Claremont will also take over the Reigns of Exiles, once the worlds tour arc finally comes to an end. But he will have Psylocke joining the team.

Also announced is a four issue X-men:Civil War limited series, and X-factor will tie in with issue 7-9, guest starring Quicksilver. Note that these stories are not essential reading for the main Civil War story.

I hope these guys bring something new to the books. I'm tired of seeing Magneto almost destroy the world very six months only to be killed and then revealed to have miraculously survived somehow months later so he can try to destroy the world again. Then there's the Apocalypse stories. I was satisfied with The Twelve storyline as The End. I hate this character and think the only worthwhile story with him in it was The Age of Apocalypse. So please, guys, create some new villians, or use some of the more obscure ones!

I like where deadly genesis is going right now. Its 3 issues in if you haven't picked it up yet, but the trade will probably be out in June or July, in time for Bru to take over Uncanny. Which is gonna continue the story.

As for Apocy? He got 7 years off. I'd say its ok to use him again, Seeing as the reason they are using him as a messiah to the remaining mutants, but will he be friend or foe? Plus Mags is human, i doubt we will see him anytime soon, unless son of m goes there.

I have been reading Deadly Genesis and I like what the series is doing so far. I am also picking up Peter David's new X-Factor, which I really dig.

I know I'm not the only person who feels this way (I've been off the internet for about six months so I'm waaaay behind in the topics), but I am just wondering by what miracle Magneto will recieve his powers again. I know it's only a matter of time.

BTW, not counting Claremont, who do you guys think was the best X-Men creative team?

Wait, I may be a little fuzzy on this (I didn't start reading X-Men again until the Riot at Xavier's storyline on Morrison's run) but wasn't Apocy killed when they "purified" Cyke? Or am I just completely wrong about this?

and best creative team? tough call. I guess Whedon and Cassaday, since I can't use Claremont and Lee.

Best creative team? If on any X-book, id trow Walt Simonson on there ala the Mutant Massacre days, as He did most of the work with claremont in those issues, even if he didnt take much credit. I'd also give a little props to the much hated Chuck Austen and Scott Lobdell, only because they tried doing something good and different, actually succeeded, and then get thrown off the book and ret-coned away.

I think Scott Lobdell could have done amazing things with the title if Bob Harrass wasn't ruling over the X-Men titles with an iron fist at the time. I also thought that Steve Seagle and Chris Bachalo's run showed a lot of promise, but suffered for the same reason.

Also, the above should have read Claremont and Byrne. Sorry, I was tired. So you could say Claremont and Lee.

lol I did think it was a little weird that you couldn't use one writer. ;-)

So then, I'll officially say Claremont and Lee.

The new writers have me excited. The art teams are solid. This could be good. If Claremont is off Uncanny, does that mean a relaunch of X-Treme X-Men?

Seriously, though, Despite my reservations, Marvel has really lightened up on their editorial control and let the writers shine more. These stories never would have been told 10 years ago.

Any reservations about the impending

marriage between Black Panther and Storm? It feels a little forced to me. Still, it might work if it's done right.

a forced marriage, not really. They've been paired off before several times over the years, but neither could commit. But with the changes in both characters in the recent times, they may be coming to realize it. I guess it will all make sense in that storm mini we are supposed to be getting.

also, bump.

You could be right, but this still feels so arbitrary to me. Storm has had other relationships in the past I found more interesting (particularly Forge). Also, I have the distinct feeling that this marriage will be a non-entity after the fact. Storm will stay with the X-Men and Black PAnther will do his thing and the marriage will be a footnote brought up every once in awhile.

As for the Team Resets, I just read Claremont will be taking over writing on the Exiles and Psylocke will be joining them. This is a title I have picked up off and on because it's always felt like an extended "What If..." series. I love Psylocke, though, so I'll have to start picking that up.

Exiles has been pretty strong since Last springs Timmebreakers arc, and through the world(s) tour. It really shook up the series, and provided a very good status quo.

69-71: House of M. They Meet Proteus.
72-74: New Universe: One of the team leaves, and an out of the blue recruitment that brings the team some "good luck".
75-76: 2099. Another new Teammate, as Proteus picks up a deadlier new body.
77-78: Squadron Supreme. (Now ongoing) Another new teammate, and a battle against the squadron.

Also upcoming, to finish the tour a visit to Future Imperfect(Dark Hulk future) and Heroes Reborn (think Captain "Man-Boobs" America, *Shudder*), and thats all before Claremont takes over.
