Hmm... for some reason I was thinking this would be a live-action show. I guess it's odd imagining an animated show on BET. Well, they certainly picked a good character to do a show about... Especially since there aren't many black superheroes out there in comics. Then again, there are about 10 times as many than there were 30 years ago and about three times the amount compared to 15 years ago.
I can remember a good friend of mine who I worked with in Jacksonville, Fla. (who is black) asking me if there are any popular black superheroes out there with their own book. Now this was in 1995 so I of course thought about it for a minute and said, "Come to think of it, the only decent books I can tell you to check out are Power Man and Iron Fist, Static Shock, Steel (who I think had a place in one of the Superman's Dead crossover books), Spawn (who was kinda black) and Blade (who had a series or limited series at that time)." Marvel and DC have both come a loooong way since then.
I'm part native american Cherokee myself so we have Warpath (who died but has a younger brother running around somewhere) and hmm... Rainmaker from Gen 13... ummm... Moonstar or whoever that Legionaire is, and that's about it. The comic world does pretty good in representing the nations and cultures of the world. It will be good to see how Black Panther is represented...
Here's to hoping Storm makes an appearance in the show somewhere down the road!
