God, what a toolbag. He's 44, trying to revive his career with a replacement band hollow of any names that mean anything to the group name (sorry, Dizzy Reed doesn't legitimize GnR), and the best he can do for publicity is bite a guy in the leg? What is he? Five years old?

Honestly, Axl. Drop this crazy rocker schtick and just get back to making good music. If that means swallowing your pride and mending fences with Slash, so be it. Can't see why he'd want to take you back at this point, though. Since he's on top of the world without relying on his previous band's name.

OK so this explains it. N

From: www.about.com

Abused child becomes angry adult

Heavy metal singer Axl Rose, who was raised as Bill Bailey, describes his childhood in mostly angry terms. He speaks of physical and sexual abuse, of a mother who was never there for him, of a stepfather who whacked him for singing along with Barry Manilow's "Mandy." He talks about singing songs of Elvis in front of the smaller children at recess when he was in third grade. He tells stories of witnessing astonishing things springing from a fervent Pentecostal upbringing, and winning prizes for learning Bible verses, yet being unable to believe anything of what he was taught.

By the age of 16, young Bill had developed into a "full-fledged juvenile delinquent," and was banned from his parents' home. He was jailed many times, though says he was not guilty except for some arrests for underage drinking. At 17 he learned that the man who had raised him, Stephen Bailey, was not his natural father, and adopted his natural father's surname of Rose. "Axl" was the name of one of his early bands. Pundits have noted that "Axl Rose" is an anagram of "oral sex," which may have appealed to the rebellious young man.

At 18 Axl hitchhiked to Los Angeles to seek his fortune. There he met up with school friend Izzy Stradlin, and over the next several years the two struggled their way toward success, sometimes living on the streets, playing wherever and whenever they could. The band Guns N' Roses, formed in 1985, had enough success to start playing as a lead act for established groups, and eventually made a name for themselves.

Between 1987 and 1991, Axl was arrested several times for assault. At some point he was diagnosed as bipolar and put on lithium; one source says he also underwent anger management therapy. Axl himself has been quoted as saying, "I'm very sensitive and emotional and things upset me and make me feel like not functioning or dealing with people... I went to a clinic, thinking it would help my moods. The only thing I did was to take one 500 question test - ya know, filling in the little black dots. All of a sudden I'm diagnosed manic-depressive. 'Let's put Axl on medication.' Well, the medication doesn't help me deal with the stress. The only thing it does is help keep people off my back because they figure I'm on medication."

It's impossible to say categorically whether Axl Rose is bipolar. Some of his behaviors - explosive anger, alcohol use in youth, substance abuse - could point to this, but could also be signs of post-traumatic stress disorder or other affective disorders. Accounts of his life give information about his childhood that is conflicting at times. Yet certainly he has had a turbulent life, and by all accounts, not a happy one.

Well, I liked Guns N Roses alot as kid but Axl Rose has always been a little punk and a half even then, I didn't glorify the turd. I remember when he was dissing Mettalica for that one concert they were playing together at. He didn't want to concede anything to them, thinking he was better. The irony was nearly 3/4 of the crowd was there to see Mettalica, not Guns N Roses.

Slash had the amazing skill in that band and like it was said from sickness, Slash got his just revenge after getting the backstab from Rose. He went on to form other greater bands and made a bigger name for himself(if that was possible) while Rose sat on his ass doing whatever the hermit does.

I remember a few years back, there were rumors of Rose trying to get a new band together under the old name and even Mtv tried helping him out. They had Rose and this trial band finish up one of their Awards ceremony. Nothing came, though after the fact.

Motley Crue is considered "bubblegum pop" by some ppl back then, ID, but I agree I like their music. I've went to 4 of Crue's concerts since 97 and every one of them truly rocked. They throw a good party.Same for Mettalica's concerts and Beastie Boys.. those groups know how to put on a good show for the fans. I've heard Korn puts on a good show too but I've yet to catch em.

Korn puts on an absolutely INCREDIBLE live show. That's actually how I became a fan. I went to Projekt Revolution a couple years back to see Snoop Dogg and some of the second stage acts (I'm only moderately a Linkin Park fan) and stuck around because my friends wanted to see Korn & Linkin Park. Linkin Park sucked but Korn put on a show that knocked me off my feet. I saw them again this last February and will probably see them again in the fall. They never fail to impress.

I also saw Metallica on the last night of the 2004 NA tour for St. Anger. They ruled but, God, did their sound guy suck that night. The guitars were overdriven so hard that they went static and the mics were too low. Even with the sound the way it was, though, they freakin' ROCKED.

Axl is pathetic. I never really liked GnR, but even I can admit that November Rain is an amazing song - however, whenever it comes on the radio these days I have to change the station because Axl's recent public patheticness ruins the song for me.

I've seen Korn and Linkin Park and I agree with you Sickness. Korn was awesome and Linkin Park sucked majorly. Then again, I've never really been a fan of their music, so I might be biased there.

It's not just that I'm not a fan, they missed notes and beats all over the place and screwed up words a lot. My LP-fan buddy was even the one to point it out.

Ok, I officially hate both sick and Mae right now for seeing Korn. :romy: I saw Metallica last year (?-man I hate getting old) and they were great. Thankfully they didn't play too many newer songs, and by newer I mean post Black album. Godsmack opened for them, and holy shit! Metallica sounded tame after Godsmack. It made a fan out of me. As far as GnR goes, after they caused the riot in Canada, I have no use for Axl.

In 1992, the band went on tour with Metallica. During a show in Montreal, Metallica guitarist James Hetfield was severely burned in a pyrotechnics accident, and Metallica asked Guns N' Roses to cover for them to keep the audience happy. But when GNR took the stage, Axl became angry with the sound system and stormed off stage after only four songs. This led to a violent riot, leaving dozens of people injured, and Montreal police almost couldn't get the crowds under control. Metallica was angered by Axl's behavior and vowed to never tour with GNR again.

Yup. I sure did, Sugartits.
Maybe you could send me pictures.

Oh, and if you're gonna talk about shows I'd like to have seen -- Pink Floyd on the Delicate Sound... or PULSE tours (goddamnit!), NIN w/ Bowie and NIN w/ Peter Murphy (sometimes having kids cramps your style), Depeche Mode on the Songs of Faith and Devotion tour.

I love to listen to Tori Amos live, but don't particularly enjoy watching her perform, if that makes any sense.

NIN was pretty f'in cool. However, I did have to suffer through 2 horrid opening acts. The first band had a goth porn star who looked like Tim Curry and called herself Peaches. She basically yelled a lot and thrust her pelvis. I have no idea what the words to any of her songs were, since they blended right in with the guy banging on the pots and pans in the background.

The second band had a lead singer who looked like Gary Oldman in Dracula. They were ok, but they tried way too hard to sound like NIN and couldn't quite cut it.

Trent Reznor (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Trent_Reznor) is fucking hot! He wasn't always hot, but now... Holy mother of god, melts my panties hot. Yeah. I said it. There.

I don't think Trent ever did the lipstick thing, but the spousal unit dug him with the thin thing and long hair (circa Perfect Drug). I kinda got that, but now that's he's ripped and has the short hair, I totally see the hotness.

Trent's opening act when I saw him (Self-destruction) was....Mr. Manson before he hit it big, and, I gotta say .... BORING.
