Was anyone else highly impressed by this film when it came out? I saw it as a one off way to kill some time but I came out of the theater just kind of speechless at what I saw. The story is highly impressive, reminds me of something out of a very well written novel. Totally atypical for a comic book movie IMO. Does anyone happen to know if they are going to release it on DVD any time soon?

I'm on the 2-disc like a fat kid on a cupcake! This movie was a total knockout. If its star wasn't known to be someone who played probably the most monotone character ever (don't get me wrong, I think Hugo Weaving was brilliant as V but his reputation as an actor is and forever will be dictated by Smith), I totally think it could have done gangbusters as the sleeper hit of the summer.

Well, he did have a small but memorable role in that little film ... I think it was called "Lord of the Rings." A few people might recall that.
However, if you haven't seen him in "Priscilla, Queen of Desert," go view that flick right away. You'll have a whole new appreciation for Hugo's acting--as well as an image of "not-Smith" to counter that supposedly dictatorial role.

You mean the one where people saw him and went, "whoa! Agent Smith is playing an elf!" after just ONE Matrix movie?
And I have seen P, QoD but many, many years ago. However, I do remember thinking that all involved put in great performances, even that bald dude dancing in a green dress on top of the bus (aka Hugo Weaving).

Rememebe, remember, the 5th of November ;) Im waiting until this fall, jsut to be safe, incase they release a directors cut or a deluxe edition or something. Great film. Surprisingly entertaining...and there was really only 1 part (5 minutes) where it was slow, but i dont know about the rest of you, but i just loved the dialogue.

The suckfest of it all is that the 2nd disc only has about 30 minutes of extras on it! They didn't need a 2nd disc at all! It's all effing marketing and a way to make more money. I'm beginning to hate this shite.

My apologies. I am unfamiliar with the graphic novel however I am meaning to check it out. I meant that V reminded me of other films that felt like you were watching a well written novel unfold on screen. Was the movie true to the graphic novel? Anways I still haven't been able to watch all the special features on the DVD. I will probably do that tonight :D

Saw it this weekend. An elegant film. Ms. Portman is a knock-out in all respects. N

Watched this one on DVD for my second ever viewing and it still stands up to the great movie I thought it was in the theater. A true classic.

I never followed the comic book. In fact, I didn't know there was one. I really enjoyed this movie though. One of the things that makes it great is that, well for spoilers sake lets just say they can't screw this movie up by making a sequal. I was very happy to add this title to my DVD collection.

What I found wrong with it... in fact what I find wrong with everything Moore does... is that everything wrong in the world is the west's fault. When are we going to get a work from Moore that shows what REAL Communism or Dictatorships look like?? There hasn't been one in the Democratic west YET! But, in every work Moore does, a western nation is the eeeevil one.

My favorite of 06 and EASILY the best one adapting the works of Moore. Most of the others suck, IMO.

Not one dictatorship in the democratic West yet? Ummmm... can you say Pinochet? Noriega? I'm sure there are others that are not popping into my head immediately.
