View Full Version : Worst Movie Ever?

Ok, so I know a lot of people will put down anything by Uwe Boll here, but there's been lots of other crapfests out there. Until recently, my worst movie was House of the Dead, but after a few nights ago, a new champion has emerged. My official worst movie EVER is (trumpets and drum roll please).....
TROLL 2!!!!
Yes, the sh*t-factory sequel to a perfectly entertaining movie tops even Uwe Boll's worst (or is it his best?) day. The story is crap, the acting is god-awful, and the special effects, well, let's just say they're....special....

Scarecrow (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0341564/) has got to be the worst movie I've ever seen... so far, that is -- I yet have to see 'American Pie 4' ;-)
It's good to be back, btw...
One of the worst that comes to mind for me was Cold Creek Manor. Man, when you constantly laugh at a movie that is supposed to be scary, it is not a goos thing. I know there are worst, but that one just popped in my head for some reason.

We used to play a game similar to this a few years back, but instead of thinking of the worst film ever, we tried to come up with the worst film ever. It was normally video game to film conversions, that was a personal favourite.
When the mole people attack and the Earth's crust starts to sink, only one man can save the planet. Jackie Chan stars in Manic Miner: The Movie . Also starring "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
When someone says "Worst Movie Ever" there are two movies that immediately come to my mind:
Batman & Robin
The Core
Sure, they may not really be the worst movies ever from an objective point of view, but if you look at the IMDB bottom 100, I think it's clear that the people who made most of those movies knew exactly that they weren't producing great masterpieces. However, what makes a movie really bad in my opinion is when people were actually seriously trying to make a good movie and failed utterly, providing mind-numblingly stupid trash as the two movies I mentioned above.
I mean, "Batman & Robin" was directed by Joel Schumacher ("Phone Booth"), the screenplay was written by Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind") and it stars George Clooney, Uma Thurman and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The budget was supposedly $125M! These people should have been able to produce something at least remotely watcheable, but they didn't. Every idiot can make a bad movie, but if people who should know better do it, now that's bad movie-making at its worst.
The situation with "The Core" is a bit different. The cast and crew aren't exactly the cream of the crop (ok, there is an Oscar-winner among the cast) so one shouldn't expect too much in any case. What makes this movie really bad is its history: At some point before the movie was released, someone at Ain't-It-Cool-News reviewed the screenplay and basically ripped it to pieces, stating that the science behind the movie is total nonsense. At that point, the screenwriter could have cut his losses and said "Look, it's popcorn cinema, not a Shakespearean play. Sit back and enjoy!" but instead, he chose to write a rebuttal for AICN, where he claimed that the science was well-researched and made perfect sense. Of course, that is total BS (they even wrote an article about the movie on www.badastronomy.com (http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/movies/thecore_review.html)). This is what made the movie really bad in my eyes - that the people who made it just weren't capable of admitting that they made a movie purely for entertainment and not as a basis for someone's PhD thesis. :D
I think we have all forgotten the king of truly bad movies. A movie so bad, it is fun to watch, and made by a man who thought it was a masterpiece. That's right; you know, you love it, you hate it; Plan Nine from Outer Space.

I've got one - Band of the Hand (1986). Story makes no sense at all. Group of delinquents are sent to a survival camp in the middle of the Florida swamps, where're they're mentored by a pro-peace Indian. When he feels they're ready, they move into a rundown building in the middle a gang-infested area in the city. He continues to mentor them in the ways of peace, and they're all about it, but when he's killed by a local ganglord (Laurence Fishburne!), the kids decide to go Rambo on the ganglord's drug smuggling HQ, killing everyone inside and blowing the place up, a complete 180 from what the rest of the movie was focused on. Also starring Lauren Holly (!) and John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Basically think Lord of the Flies meets Miami Vice, except about 100 times worse. On top of that, it's directed by Phillip Michael Glaser, the originally Starsky from TV's Starsky and Hutch!

Oh wait, there's that early 80's stinker "Hangmen". My mom bought this bargain bin DVD because it had Sandra Bullock pasted on the cover. This movie was so barely watchable that I couldn't focus on anything long enough except to say that some kids dad gets killed for some reason. The kid, who's at college, is then the target of rogue CIA guys who want something from him (don't remember what). This kid then runs into all of dad's old army buddies who vow to protect him. From that point on, all kinds of well-trained soldiers are killed on both sides while college kid somehow survives and gets the best of them in the end.

Moop, B&R made me want to become a film terrorist. I wanted to destroy every copy of that film. Ugh.
The Core -- I can't believe I rented that piece of shit. The science sucked so bad, it went from laughable to cringe worthy. And some of those deaths were simply pointless. Why is character x going to die? So that the audience will feel some emotion (didn't work). Ugh. I hated that movie.

Oooh, how about Never Too Young To Die (1986) starring John Stamos and Gene Simmons as an over-the-top drag queen supervillain(ess?)? Stamos plays Lance Stargrove, a college student whose dad (played by George Lazenby, no less) is a spy who gets killed by Velvet Von Ragner (Simmons, using nothing more than his (her?) very long and sharp fingernail). Stargrove Jr. decides to find out what happened to dear old dad and take over for him and defeat evil Von Ragner. They showed this film for free at the local indie-house and I went with a group of friends just to see what it was. The movie is dead-serious, but it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen! Also, look for a non-Freddy Robert Englund in a bit part as Von Ragner's henchman.

Ok, I just watched "Jack Frost" on my On Demand (the serial killer turned killer snowman pic, not the Michael Keaton film), and it was an interesting mix. The first 3/4 of the movie are just downright God-awful (btw, how can something be God-awful? Isn't that an oxy-moron? Shouldn't it be Satan-awful or something? But I digress.). But when they get to the last quarter of the movie, it's like the cast and crew went "hey, we're making a POS film, lets just have fun with it!" And they do. This weird "Evil Dead" humor comes out of nowhere and I actually chuckled a couple of times. The credits are kind of funny too with weird quotes and trivia questions about the film. I know there's a sequel, so maybe they keep that crazy humor up.
And on a side-note for all you dirty minds out there (you know who you are), look for Shannon Elizabeth (her first movie) getting raped and murdered by a giant snowman in the shower. That sounds weird enough to check out, doesn't it?

Dream a Little Dream- (Two Coreys are not enough for this planet)
Freddy Got Fingered- (Daddy would you like some sausage?)
Cool As Ice- (Vanilla Ice's one chance for immortality- he failed)
Hercules in New York- (Arnold is dubbed)
I find great enjoyment watching "Freddy Got Fingered" and "Hercules in New York". They have great "Beverly Hills Ninja Effect". I own the DVD to Hercules. It comes with two audio tracks, Arnold's voice and the dubbed voice. When I watch it, I always watch the dubbed voice. :D
(The Beverly Hills Ninja Effect goes back to high school. On one rainy day, my friend and I stayed inside. The PPV channel that replayed one movie all day was coming in clear from some glitch, a button was pushed or something. This was before digital cable and On Demand. We watched it . . . all day. The first time, "Beverly Hills Ninja" was stupid to us, but after six hours, it grew on us. Now, it's immortal. :D )

Yes, it was literally a "family" film. As you watch it you can plainly see the childish logic manifest itself. It isn't a good film, but you have to tip your hat to the the kid's (Racer Rodriguez) imagination.

Here we go.... Worst film ever.. If you can imagine the most annoying sound in the world (and Im not talking about Jim Carrey in DumB & Dumber), or worst acting skills, then might be thinking about Kathy Ireland in........

Everyone, through the gift of youtube.com, now we can all enjoy the 1977 theatrical trailer for Exorcist II: the Heretic. It's wacky. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY0bsaDpYpY)

Zombie Nation
My friend actually paid to rent this, not knowing how bad it is. The title makes it sound like some massive zombie invasion or something. In actuality, it's just 3 or 4 zombie women who were murdered by a psycho cop who have come back. They look like zombies out of an Ed Wood movie, and the film quality is about the same (the fact that the women talk and are completely aware while undead doesn't help either). Didn't even bother finishing the movie, it was too painful to watch. Stay far away from this movie lest your brain liquify in your skull!

I'm not surprised at the Batman and Robin movie, that is for me ONE of the worst movies ever assembled.
I could come up with alot of movies I think are horrible but I want to be fair and think of one that really deserves this title. Ill list a few:
1)Buffy the Vampire SLayer-This movie made me want to stop watching vampire movies all together. It was slapsticky and had nothing going for it. Pee Wee as a vampire....i was in hysterics by that point.
2)Pirates of the Carribean 2- All i have to say is that this movie was horrible and the only thing stopping me from walking out of the theatre was the fact that i had to pay for my girlfriend and I to go and see it, that is money i can not get back. And yes, i truly hold it up there as ONE of the worst movies ever made.
Like i said, im sure i could come up with a couple more like romactic comedies with ben stiller or horrible acting movies that have jennifer lopez in it( U-Turn was her best movie) but the two up there make me upset that i ever had to watch them.
Death To Them ALL!!!

I agree with this one and I'll add Bolero. Yes, you get to see Bo Derek practically naked, but OH MY GOD, what a horrible piece of crap.

THE APPLE (1980)
Written, produced and directed Menahem Golan ( ), for Cannon Films (in partnership with his cousin Yoram Globus)
From Amazon.com:
Plot Outline:
Musical set in the 'future', e.g. 1994. A young couple enters the world of the music industry, but also the world of drugs.
Plot Synopsis:
Alphie and Bibi, two sweet, naive youths from Moose Jaw, Canada, have come to America to compete in the 1994 Worldvision Song Festival. Although the pair have talent, they are beaten out by the underhanded tactics of the festival favorites, another duo with the backing of BIM: Boogalow International Music, and its leader, Mr. Boogalow. Though crestfallen by their loss, Bibi and Alphie are soon delighted to hear the Mr. Boogalow has taken an interest in their music and wants to sign them to his label. All is looking up for the two until they begin to discover the dark underside of the rock and roll world.
That's about as clear a description of the thing that you're going to get.
I remember seeing the trailer in a theater back in 1980...even then, the movie came and went in the blinkl of an eye, but now it's on DVD for you to savor its 2:35 - 1 anamorphic glory! The gaudiest, trashiest, most off-key and out-of-step musical ever made.
You have to see this monstrosity to believe it. It literally makes Showgirls look like high art.
Utterly unbeatable in its badness, you must see it to believe it.....You'll need to pick your jaw up off the floor.
YouTube links.....
The trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BY9cvgrP1c)
A musical number (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tewQ5GTCXO4) "SPEED! SPEED! SPEEEEEEEEEED!"
An even WORSE musical Number!!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfHV09yn2dg)
I beg of you to watch these. I can't enjoy this badness alone....:OhWell:
Go NOW, to see what prompted one user at another message board to describe it "Like Rip Taylor's Hallucinogenic Mushroom Binge!" :Mwahaha:

The Apple takes your soul! This is going to be one of my fav lines now.
WTF! This is something. I could not stop laughing my ass off, thank you man, thank you for this. I almost crapped my pants!
It is like the creator was not only gay, not only did he love flash gordon, but also that he was trippin on some BAD acid. How did this get made? No honestly, i would like to know? And they wonder why disco is dead!

The best part is that this somehow ends up on DVD while numerous other, more deserving films, are still sitting in vaults. There is no justice in the world....*sigh*
Do not take The Apple! Not all knowledge is good!

Was "Spy Kids 3" on that list? Because while the first two were fairly clever, the third one was like watching a loud, annoying video game that someone else was playing.

Kaeos, i only own two (I own Daredevil)of the movies on your list, but a few more Uwe boll movies like house of the Dead and In the Name of the King should have made the list.
also Miss Congeniality 1 & 2 but then i'd own more than the one.
also I always assumed Snakes on a Plane and Galaxy Quest were decent flicks?
oh yeah, you have to add Ghost Dad and Leonard 6 two Bill Cosby flicks that were horrible right up there with Pluto Nash. What about Star Trek 5 thats right up there with Howard the Duck
also Judge Dredd and Over the Top were very bad stallone flicks.

Half of those movies are BAD, but they don't deserve to be on that list.
Epic Movie, however, filled me with self-loathing, and therefore belongs on the list.

What I really liked from K-Dawg's list:
Galaxy Quest - that was hysterical!
Snakes on a Plane - more clever than I expected, but I wasn't expecting more than muthafuckin' snakes on a muthafuckin' plane.
What didn't completely suck for me:
Last Action Hero - has problems, but I get what they were going for
The Ninth Gate - pretty creepy overall. Pretty low-key, but I liked it.
Lost in Space - not great, but wasn't horrible. Heather Graham is yummy
Dracula 2000 - Naked Vitamin-C made it marginally watchable.
What I saw that sucked ass:
D-War - What the hell?! better than expected F/X couldn't save this horrible story.
Batman and Robin - still makes me cry.
i]Daredevil[/i] - The R-rated cut was a bit better, but it still wasn't very good.

yeah, I can't believe Galaxy Quest is considered a bad movie. Maybe it's just my Star Trek/Star Wars geekiness that is coloring my view.
My personal worst movie, and I know it's an unpopular view, but I HATED Napoleon Dynamite. I watched at a friend's house and spent most of the time getting really drunk instead.

Scary Movie, Epic Movie, etc, ad nauseum. They all follow the "kitchen sink" method of movie making made famous by AIRPLANE!.....
It's pretty much the same as all the crap slashers that came after Halloween. ALL crap. Imitators, and poor ones at that.
I have that same feeling of loathing for those movies, but also for people that go see them.....
But in a loving, Buddhist sort of way. :p
I didn't go see it. I bought it for 2 dollars at a movie rental store.
At least I didn't spend 4 to rent it. :yuck:
