As far as Kirsten goes, she's always reminded me more of a wet cat than Mary Jane. I personally don't care if they recast her or just keep Mary Jane out this time.

As far as a villan goes? Wasn't there a story at one point where the lizard was on a rampage and Kraven was hunting him? That could be a nice story to spread out over 2 movies like they are apparently planning to shoot back to back.

As far as Norman coming back? If they go this route, I hope to god they come up with a new costume design. For some reason the whole android/power ranger looking costume didn't do it for me. I'm looking for something a lot closer to one of the costumes we've seen in the comics (fleshy green with purple fabric). And if he were scarey that would help too.

I'm betting on the Lizard, but it would be nice to have the Black Cat show up as well.

It'll be interesting to see if they do Black Cat. Personally, I've never really been a big fan of her; she's always seemed like kind of a poor man's Catwoman to me. I guess I'm kind of interested to see what a Spidey movie can be without a love interest distracting the story. IF Raimi were to decide to do Black Cat, on has to wonder if that would be a deciding factor when Nolan makes the decision to have Catwoman in the next Batman; just a thought.

I hope they bring the Lizard into the mix, that would be badass! I also have a soft spot for Scorpion and Vulture. Raimi originally intened for the Vulture to team-up with Sandman in Spidey 3 so I wouldn't be surprised if baldy showed up in the sequel.

Not a fan of Black Cat. I agree with Macstone2, she reminds me too much of Catwoman.

Too bad Raimi is attached to this project. Not because he's a horrible director-I love the guy-but because Evil Dead IV won't ever get around to production until Campbell is 60 years old! lol

I bet the big deciding factor was TDK's insane amount of money they made at the box office. This is just a bad idea for the fans; this franchise is dead and they are only filming the 2 back to back because they know the part 4 will be the last nail in the coffin and they will already have 5 in the bag so they can squeeze every last nickel they can. Get ready for Joel Schumakers' Spiderman 4 and 5. Now we will have to wait 10 years or more before we see another good Spiderman movie guarantee it. Not that I don't like Raimi, because I do, but this project is out of control now, 1 and 2 were great and fun but this train has now become a wreck.

I don't know. . . Think I'm going to have to disagree with you gr689. Word is that the script is pretty solid and that's why both Raimi and Maguire signed back on. Keep in mind that neither of them thought very much of the idea of doing a 4th. Knowing the both of them, it's not about money.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many pictures Sony has the rights to do? I was kind of hopeing to see the next one produced by Marvel which could open up the possibility of cameos. How many of you wouldn't like to see Spidey and Iron Man trying to stop a rampaging Hulk in the middle of Times Square. Is it at all possible for Sony to come to some kind of agreement with Marvel to get their movies under the same umbrella with Iron Man, Hulk and the other upcoming ones like Avengers. It'd be nice to see these companies come together for the fans. It's not like there won't be enough money to go around after.

Not sure, but Sony will probably keep Spidey for a few years, especially if the franchise keeps pulling in the moolah. Spidey is a cash cow for Sony and they'll milk that beast until it's all dried up and withered. As far as Sony and Marvel Studios holding hands and sharing characters...property rights and all that jazz is greek to me, but I seriously doubt that scenario will happen. (hopefully I'm wrong). More than likely we'll have to wait until Marvel buys back the rights before we see the web-slinger hanging out with other Marvel studs.

Even though Spider-Man 3 was less than extrordinary, my faith in Raimi hasn't waned in the least. He churned out arguably two excellent films, and two out of three ain't bad. I'm of the mind that new blood should be brought in to move the franchise forward, but hell, I'll never get enough of Raimi. So long as he doesn't fudge this one up!!

You really can't blame Raimi for Spider-man 3! He has said several times that he did not want Venom in SM3! He only did it to make Sony happy! Just like in Transformers, I'm sure Bumblebee was changed from a VW Beetle to a Chevy Camaro. GM (parent company of Chevy) probably put up a lot of the movie's money.

actually bumble bee was a camaro, because volkswagon didn't want to license the beetle for the movie.. way to go volkswagon. you just helped chevolet sell their new model camaro. anyway.. spiderman 3 could've been better.. sam raimi should be slapped for killing off the venom character. the movie shold've ended with sandman being stopped and brock tuning into to venom at the end of the movie leading to part 4.

Spider-Man 2 was a major pile of crap, I wish Raimi would be left out of the next installment.

Well, here's the deal. If Sony keeps it's stupid hands off the film and allows Raimi and possibly Marvel to dot it's thing, we just might get back to a good film. Don't rehash villians...please! After 3 I'm personally tired of spidey. How about a rest and redue it later.

I've actually been thinking about this ever since I saw SM3, & I have what could be a viable rough plot in my opinion.
They could start out with Peter, amidst his web-slinging, finally getting a grasp on college life and getting better in his classes, specifically with Dr. Conners classes. Because of this, Dr. Conners decides to confide in Peter a secret project he is close to finishing. The Neogenic Recombinator. It would splice his DNA with that of a lizards to grow his arm back. Well we all know the rest of the story, he becomes the Lizard and goes on a rampage. Spidey tries to capture his wayward college professor to no avail. Word of his attempts to corral the creature make it to a certain adventurer. Sergei Kravenoff! Yes friends, say hello to KRAVEN, THE HUNTER!

Kraven wants to capture/kill the beast for the sport of it. Spidey just wants to save his teacher. Which would lead to Spidey & Kraven locking classic horns as well.

As I said, in my opinion this would work!

Didn't some one mention this very plot in the first response? Macstone meet family guy. Let the Lizard/Kraven rumors begin.

Well as far as I'm concerned as long as the studios keep their grimey mitts off the property and let the director who understands the character make the movie, life will be good. I too wish Marvel Studios had the rights to movie franchise right now, cause we all know that marvel understands thier characters and what their fans want. If they are going to do a good Spidey story I would like to see the Electro, Vulture, Shocker, Mysterio, Rhino, & Doc Ock as the Sinister Six. I know it won't happen, but one can dream.

i like raimi, i like tobey.. however i want to see something fresh. maybe webshooters for one, a better mary jane(kirsten out) and no more A list villians treated like B or C rank characters, come on. Shooting pt 4 and 5 and 6 whatever it maybe, Sony is rolling the dice on this one and in the end the fans are going to be the ones that suffer... in reality the franchise will begin and end with spidey 4.

I doubt I'll ever go see Spiderman 4. I never was able to sit all the way through the 3rd... too much goin on and ended up a jumbled, boring mess. They should leave it alone and move on to something new.

I think the Lizard/Kraven storyline would be great. Although I would definitely set up appearances by Felicia Hardy and Adrian Toomes and have Black Cat and Vulture in part 5.

I don?t think I ever want see a live-action Sinister Six! The multiple villain scenario rarely works out in superhero films. Part of the reason Spidey 3 stumbled was because there was just too darn much going on. Spidey 3 should have been cut up and filmed over two movies akin to the route 4 & 5 are apparently taking. One thing I will demand from the third sequel is more corny spidey jokes! When Parker slips the mask on he transforms into a motor mouth, especially during fisticuffs. I want Spidey to yammer on a tad more, even if it's a soliloquy!

Bruce Campbell is GOD!

Cannot wait to see where Raimi places him this time around.

I love comics. I love movies. But let's all move past the point that movies will never ever come close to the comic. I really don't give a flying rats ass if Goblin has green skin or if he's in a funny looking suit. The essence of the character was there. In movies a touch of reality has to be added for the everyday average movie going person.

Next.

I call for a reboot. I love Spidey 1 and 2 but 3 ruined the whole deal. I want a different take, a different director, a different lead, and a different movie. Sam showed his lack of interest in the third installation. Let someone else take the lead. Let's get something else going since Marvel's on a role with their other flicks.

Yeah, I think a reboot is a good idea! Once a trilogy is completed, I think people becaome satisfied (or bored) with the style. There should be a rule that if a fourth movie is planned it should be a reboot with a whole new cast and director. For example, (and no offense to the X-Men cast) I'd love to see an X-Men reboot... Mix up the characters a little, tell the story in a new way. I think it would keep things fresh.

Why is everyone saying it was sony fault that the movie failed and that marvel studios would do a better movie? It was Ari Avad(the head producer of marvel studios)that forced raimi t put venom in the movie not sony(all the money the first and second filmed made sony could careless who was in the movie thats the reason they pretty much wrote him a blank check lol). It was that studio that ya'll phrase so much that was the one at fault for forcing venom.
Then off the topic I have no idea how they(Marvel studios) are going to be able to sign all those high profile actors to play their respected roles in the avengers movie. Marvel studios already did not want to pay the the director of iron man any extra dough for the sequel to that film. Can ya'll picture how much money that film will cost to make with all the fx alone not including the actors especially rdj who is blowing up right now lol.

Black Cat, Lizard, and Kraven should show up which would all tie together with Kraven coming to New York after hearing about the Lizard's rampages through the media. Kraven then learns of Spidey (which he has always thought to be the ultimate hunt) and goes after him. Black Cat shows up to assist Spider-man (my guess is have Spider-man go after a break-in and it be Black Cat as the burglar). If this does span a couple movies then I could certainly see Mysterio (cgi would certainly do him serious justice) or even Shocker or Chameleon popping up.

That was just off the top of my head, but fans would love to see that many Spidey characters show up in 2 movies. I know my family and friends would.

I would love a nod to lesser known villians like Rocket Racer. Just a small scene where Spidey is in persuit and ends up catching him. 5 minutes tops.I agree with everyone else who says less is more.Let's keep it simple and hope the actors don't just walk through the movie on their way to the bank.

we all know that the story will continue with harry and the hobgoblin. It has to, he's not dead he gonna come back to life and be grotesque.
