I voted for soup only because I randomly suggested it as a joke. For some reason, it amuses me. Perhaps it's because I am now imagining a bunch of kids in giant soup costumes....

I use Photoshop to crop photos to avatar size, but I think there are some online photo storage sites where you can do the same thing.

You can do it on Flickr, (http://www.flickr.com/tour/edit/) you can sign up for free with a Yahoo ID.
