I thought this could use its own thread since everyone will be able to download this update today.

I downloaded it this morning before work. I had about enough time to make an avatar and quickly flip through some menus before I had to leave, but I'm looking forward to checking things out tonight. I especially want to see how well the Netflix streaming works. I put a bunch of movies and TV shows in my Netflix instant queue yesterday in preparation.

I also want to see how the new Party system works. It sounds intriguing on paper, but I want top see how it works in practice.

As for my quick general impressions, I like the overall aesthetic to the new menu system, and the marketplace seems to have a lot more information. Everything seems to flip quickly between the menus, but the guide takes a little bit to come up. To me, the NXE seems like a much slicker interface than the old blades with a couple cool features, but it isn't the coolest thing since sliced bread either, unlike what Microsoft wants you to believe.

What do you guys think of the NXE?

I downloaded last night and played with it briefly. I had fun doing the avatar, but was a little surprised. It doesn't seem to have alot of options, but I guess they will probably add more stuff.

It's a little confusing getting around, and I still can't find out how to change my xbox status from online to busy/away/appear offline etc. Of course, I could never remember how to do that with the old version either :)

Not all the items in my Netflix Instant queue seem to be there. Not sure if there's a limit based on your netflix subscription, but I only saw 5 movies and none of the TV shows I had in my Watch Instantly list.

update: ah I see. I checked my Instant queue and a couple of the items say they aren't available on Xbox. Probably a right issue or something legal.

Columbia Pictures titles aren't availble for Xbox/Netflix yet.

Don't install Halo 3 to your HDD, it will run less smoothly. Check Bungie out, they have a message on it.

I believe that the Columbia Pictures licensing thing covers more than just Netflix and the Xbox. I hope they work things out and those movies will become available soon.
