I'm glad someone is thinking about the disappearance of the bees. CCD is not a laughing matter! When they're gone, they're gone...
:goodbye:

Hi Abeline! I meant to tell you a story on another thread before we were spammed...
Last summer, when I was interviewed for a London magazine, it coincidentally turned out that the person interviewing me was the author of a definitive book on the history of bees.
So, I took the opportunity of asking her... what was the ultimate secret of the importance of bees to all the ancient cultures throughout the history of mankind?
And she told me that the ultimate secret of everything was... fermentation.
Apparently, honey was the first substance that Man discovered could be fermented, even before the Egyptians discovered the process of making beer...
Yes, Mead is the nectar of the gods.
So, that's it. All the secret codes and hidden knowledge encrypted throughout the centuries lead to one ultimate truth... getting drunk!:)

Hello Stella,
I'm afraid that your friend's analysis greatly undervalues the wider importance of the bee and its sacred honey, which has meaning so much more elevated than any short-term intoxication! If we lose the bee, we lose so much more than your friend implies.
The clock has started ticking - let us hope that humankind learns its mistakes in time. The mason bee is only a small part of the solution for man. As Professor Pfefferkorn described so eloquently, the words "mellificium" and "maleficium" are only a hair's breadth apart!
Yours sweetly
Abeline:ohwell:
