Hey, mouthwash boy, you do know that when liquid O2 (called liquid oxygen) and H2 (hydrogen gas) when combined creates an explosion (otherwise known as heat and energy) and the byproduct called H2O (commonly refered to as water)? Well, that's what the shuttle uses for fuel.
Hence, not a pollutant.

Actually, there are other reactions taking place as well and other polutants being produced, hence the reason no one but the astronauts is within 2 miles of the pad at launch time.
However, the effect on the environment by any such polutants is negligible. 2 or 3 hours during rush hour in any metro area dwarfs said polution, though.

Look, just because you had a berfday a while back doesn't mean you should stick up for mouthwash boy. Nor does the fact that you're right and are so gleefully taking some of the smug out of daffy's sails.
Still, oxygen and hydrogen do make water. Daffy's right about that. And if I drink enough alcohol, I make water too.

Actually, one component of the space shuttle boost phase is dirty.
The solid rocket fuel in the strap boosters is a combination of powdered aluminum and ammonium perchlorate. The exhaust is a bit nasty but so is the black cloud belching from the delivery truck that just went down my street. All it was hauling was a load of Doritos. At least the shuttle is doing something useful.

Am I the only one who thinks that Nos and Spacey would make a nice couple?
They have similiar interests.

Not in the Challenger's case.

err...ah...well ... you may have a point there. OK - bad comparison. How about hauling battery acid masquerading as screw top wine. :) N
