Hopefully this does better than "The Star Wars Holiday Special (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star_Wars_Holiday_Special)"...!
The sci-fi film gets a musical twist
Picture Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker twirling across a stage, while Stormtroopers form a kick line and Wookies sing their hearts out.
Sound more than a little far-fetched?
Never content to settle for ordinary, director George Lucas is taking his uber-successful Star Wars franchise from the big screen to the stage. Together, his production company LucasFilm Limited and composer John Williams are putting together a live theatre show, reports Channelnewsasia.com.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is slated to perform, while film clips will flash on a cinema screen. Excerpts from all six movies will be included in chronological order, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi.
And, unlike traditional theatre shows, the production will feature live narrators instead of actors.
This two-hour musical event, titled “Star Wars: A Musical Journey,” is set to debut on April 10, 2009 in London’s O2 arena.
Hoping to catch this unusual show? You’ll have to cross the pond first. The production is only slated for a European tour, but if you’re a hardcore Star Wars fan, it may be well worth the trip.
