There really haven't been a lot of concert films, but there have been some. I'm interested in hearing what everyone's favorites are.
Mine:
1. Woodstock: I think this film and the concert sequences have to be considered the benchmark.

2. Gimme Shelter: The "anti" Woodstock, just a year later. But a very compelling film and great music.

3. Rust Never Sleeps: Neil Young, Jawas. Need I say more?

Not sure if it really can be said to be a concert film, but Taylor Hackford's "Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll!" is a terrific movie. The music's great, but it's also incredibly funny too. They've just released a four-disc DVD; I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive.

Led Zepplin: The Song Remains the Same

I really wanted to love this movie, and the album, but couldn't.
I am and was a huge Zep fan (the first concert I ever went to was to see them (1969)). By the time SRTS was released, Plant's voice was just a shell of its former self, and how he sounded bummed me out so much I just couldn't get into that film or album. When I saw them, he was awesome, and I was just shocked at how he sounded by the time of SRTS.

He obviously couldn't keep his voice at the caliber that it once was, but I enjoyed SRTS and the In Through the Out Door album. I like the distortion on his voice and the different styles they used to cover/create a new sound. I appreciate bands that have the ability to change their stripes and still be spectacular.

I just love Zep. I saw Jimmy Page play with the Black Crowes several years ago. This was the show's songlist. The majority of songs had a style that forgave the voice for not being young Robert Plant, which was great because I wouldn't have wanted to hear Robinson sing some of Zep's earlier songs.
