So, I thought I was all clever and original when I named my daughter Lorien from the Lord of The Rings.
Well, I was at a dinner party and the husband of a colleague of mine was standing off to the side, so I thought I'd be all friendly and introduce myself.
He replies, "Hi, I'm Lorien."
I'm sure I've misheard, so I ask him to please repeat it.
"Lorien," he repeats, with a look on his face like he's been through this many times.
"Can you please spell that?" I ask.
He very patiently spells it "L O R I E N."
"That's my daughter's name," I exclaim.
He looks surprised, "From The Lord of The Rings?"
"From The Lord of The Rings!" I answer.
So much for my clever originality.
