Hey dudes and dudettes, just wondering if anyone has seen this yet. Basically I want to know if there is any extra footage after the end credits or not. I ain't sitting my ass down for nothing.

I'll be seeing this on the 14th. Yup, the 14th. Why? My company is renting out a theater and we're getting tickets for $2 a piece. Not a bad deal.

I'm actually going to see A Scanner Darkly tomorrow night. I'll let ya'll know what I think.

You lucky, lucky, lucky bastard. I doubt very much if we'll get that on this side of the pond :angry

I didn't stay for the credits, because the movie is two-and-a-half hours long--I had trouble getting my legs to work after it was through.

So POTC: DMC may have been a little long, and like "Matrix Reloaded" it's a second film that immediately sets up the third, so don't expect a complete plot resolution to it. Still, the movie was a lot of fun--some wonderful set pieces (loved the sword fight atop the water wheel), a plot that wasn't overly complicated (yet held my attention for those two-plus hours), some interesting character development (especially for Elizabeth), and CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW. Johnny Depp is clearly the star of this movie; whenever he's not on screen, you're wondering where he is and hoping he comes back.

Overall I give it a thumbs up for sheer entertainment value: I didn't even think to check my watch until two hours into the movie, and that was only because my legs were going to sleep and I was curious how long it had been. Also, some excellent CGI work with Davy Jones's crew, who all look a bit, well, fishy ... and did I mention the lovely Johnny Depp? Yes, a definite thumbs up from me.

Saw it this morning in a digital theater, very entertaining, didn't feel like getting up to use the john once. Loved the cliffhangers and setup for the next movie, the last shot gave the audience a real rush!

Davy Jones and his crew were terrific, as was their ship. The Kraken was also well done, a little too cgi-ish at times, but that's a minor complaint, it still thrilled. I loved the further nod to the Disneyland ride with the firefly-lit bayou hut where voodoo vixen Tia Dalma lived.

Great action, locations and sets that looked and felt used and lived in and aged by the sea and battle and the jungle.

....and yes, there's a little tidbit at the end after the credits. Doesn't add up to much, more of a dog-gone joke than anything important, really. :dunno:

I'll be seeing this again, which is more than I can say for anything I've seen in a theater for awhile. Oh, wait....last time I saw a movie twice, it also starred Depp, as an amazing chocolateer. :D

I thought it was on a par with the first - that is, it was good fun, but still somewhat disappointing. It had, for me, the same flaws as the first:

a) It's too long - it doesn't really have enough plot to support two-and-a-half hours, and what plot it does have is pretty simple.

b) The comedy isn't all that funny. Sure, Johnny Depp is great, but you can only watch him say, "Oh", or "Bugger", in response to something before you wonder why they couldn't come up with actual gags. And whereas Mackenzie Crook and Lee Arenberg were funny in the first, here they just sorta hung around, occasionally making comments. And

c) The action isn't that exciting. Except for the aforementioned water-wheel scene, which has that spark of invention that the other sequences lack, and the scene where they flee the cannibals.

It's still entertaining, and even though I suspected what would happen in the final scene, the resolution made me grin, but I hope that "At World's End" is faster and funnier than this one.

Man, if no-one else is going to say it, that is a fantastic pun, probably should come with spoiler warnings
Saw it last night and although I did love it, it definitely only felt like half a movie. The first one felt like a film in it's own right, this definitely did not. It was screaming out PART ONE OF TWO!!! for most of it. One thing I can't work out though, why the hell would a church have a water whell attached to the side of it? :dunno:
One *minor* gripe, on the map in the East Indian Tarding Company office I couldn't see a legend that said "Here be monsters, yarrrrrrrr!" :(

I went and saw it last night, and it was long. I even stayied after the credits and I wished I hadn't. I though tit was very entertaining the story could have been slightly better. The end was very good, I was very suprised at who walked down the stairs at the end. Also who thinks thinks the witch has something to do with Davy Jones lost love?

Caught this last night, and it wasn't too bad. A bit on the long side, but just your basic summer popcorn flick. A bit confusing at first with the whole key thing, but the writers seemed to iron it out. The f/x were very well done (and I'm not just saying that because a teacher of mine worked on Davy Jones tentacle animation, either), although at times the scenes were a bit crowded with stuff.

Basic summer fun.

Rating: Matinee price ticket.
