Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Spring Equinox today.

The Vernal Equinox is said to be the most auspicious day for Alchemists to begin The Great Work, so I'm pretending to be an Alchemist and trying to think of a Great Work to embark upon.

I'm in a particularly good mood this year because I'm truly liberated now, the sun is shining in London, and my experimental Yedos, Penelope and Parker, have burst into full bloom literally overnight in honour of the Equinox.

Yedoensis is the ornamental variety Japanese cherry trees (also known as Yoshino) that I grew up with as a child in Washington DC, which is known for its famous Cherry Blossom Festival every spring. We tried planting a couple - evocatively named Penelope and Parker - to see if they would survive the London climate and they seem to be very happy here.

The Yedos traditionally bloom so suddenly that there is a legend that the spring fairy maiden awakens the sleeping cherry trees overnight with her delicate breath.

If you happen to be in Paris, today is the day that the sunbeam in the Saint Sulpice gnomon falls on the plaque in front of the altar, signifying that Easter will occur on the weekend after the next full moon. You'll have to use your imagination, though, because the gnomon is broken...

Chip keeps suggesting that I should write a blog and guess this is a kinda bloggy post, but I'm putting it here because I haven't figured out the blog-thing yet and I just felt like writing something today, on this gloriously sunny Spring Equinox.

Presumably, the same will be happening at the Church of San Sulpice in Guadalajara? Not sure if the Mexican gnomon is broken or not?:)
