Did anybody catch the finale last night? I swear, one of television's best shows - ever.
Five near-perfect years. Sorry to see it go, I'm really going to miss this one. But what a send off!

So say we all.
I was completely, immensely emotionally satisfied after the finale. Although we got plenty of action (LOVED the old-school centaurians vs. the new ones in a down and out fist fight) it wasn't just two hours of shooting and battle.
I had two TEENSY EENSY problems with it - not enough to sink the ship, mind you, just little minor annoyances:
Everyone gave up technology a little too easily for my taste. I admit, we haven't been through what this fleet has been through. However, just try to take my husband's iPhone away and see what his reaction is.
Eternal Angel Gaius telling Eternal Angel Caprica 6, "You know he doesn't like it when you call him that." What was that about? You just finished answering all my questions, so don't go frakking with my mind by asking new ones!
Other than that, just brilliant television.
My favorite line - "The night is young and apparently, so are you."

I concur: a great finale to a great series. We had action, we had revenge, we had thoughtful moments, we had answers (which mostly matched my expectations).
To Emmy voters who have shamefully neglected this series for the past few years: FRAK YOU.

As I've said on Coming Attractions, I had issues with it, but I'll be double-dog frakked if I'm still not thinking about it. So yeah, the awesomeness of the finale outweighs the quibbles I have, I guess.
The meaning of the notes and of the opera house were just too cool for words. Oh, but -- how did the fleet end up there? Who set the rendezvous point?
NM - Negs pointed it out to me.

I never follow the Emmys, but I remember the cover headline on Rolling Stone three years ago, asking something like "Could this be the best television show ever?" It didn't think it was a stretch then, and sure as hell not now!
I never considered it, but I am astounded there have been no Emmys for this superb, outstanding cast of actors, writer, designers and so on.
Frakkin' shameful!
And I'm with Jake - three days later and I still can't shake the scenes from my head' I usually dislike sequels, but - dammit - I want to see these people again!

There have actually been two Emmys for Visual Effects, and nominations for sound mixing, costumes, cinematography, editing, directing (one), and writing (two). That none of the actors have ever even been nominated is a damn shame--I think Mary McDonnell ranks with any of the actresses nominated over the last couple of years.

At least they got nods for writing and directing. Often genre shows are completely ignored in that category. And I agree - Mary's performance has consistently moved me, from the very beginning of the mini series right up til the end of the finale.
I still was the most moved in the penultimate episode, when the Doc tried to cross the line and Adama stopped him. I misted up.

I never really liked or disliked Olmos. But after BSG - he should have had a wall of Emmy's.

While I enjoyed Olmos's portrayal of Adama, I don't think he was the best actor in the ensemble. I would have been thrilled to see Mary McDonnell, James Callis and yes, Tricia Helfger up for the Emmy.
