From Mania (http://www.mania.com/danny-huston-robin-hood_article_116247.html):
Thespian Danny Huston has recently played a blood-thirsty vampire in 30 Days of Night, a key historical figure in HBO's John Adams and a devious government recruiter in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. HR is reporting the actor must now find the Lionheart within as he has been cast to play King Richard in Ridley Scott's upcoming revision of Robin Hood.
He will join co-stars Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Vanessa Redgrave, Mark Strong, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Alan Doyle, Oscar Isaacs, Lea Seydoux and William Hurt. Ridley is directing the project, based on a script Brian Helgeland, Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris. Imagine's Brian Grazer is producing along with Scott and Crowe.
Plot Concept: The plot centers on Robin of Loxley (Russell Crowe) in an origin story of Robin Hood that hews close to historical facts of the period. Abandoned as a child, he finds community with the common people of Nottingham. Robin's abandonment and trust issues hamper his ability to fall in love. He meets his match in Marian (Blanchett), a strong, independent woman. Huston will step into the shoes of the historical figure King Richard, who became known as Richard the Lionheart because of his exploits in the Third Crusade.
Robin Hood will hit theaters May 14, 2010.
Huston is also set to play Poseidon in Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans, scheduled to hit theaters next March.
