hi everyone, listen there was this book that i remember reading as a child and i enjoyed it greatly although i dont really remember alot from it.. i know it was a pulitzer winner i think, it was a novel that had a gold sticker award thing on the cover and what it was about was a young man growing up in what i think was a planned socialist state, i think, in perhaps east germany? the families were planned by the state, and they gave medication to the children and adults to supress sexual arousal.. unimportant but it is something i remember from the book.. and that they gave the childroom bikes at the end of like a certain year in school and that also the boy in the book had a daughter who wanted to become a birth mother as her profession that her state would decide for them.. the protagonist or narrator/main character of the book wanted to be chosen as an engineer or scientist of some sort.. this is all rambled but this is all i can remember and i would love if someone could make sense of this foolishness and help me find this book, thanks!

I want to say that you're talking about The Giver. From what I remember of the book it sounds like it. But it didn't win the pulitzer. It did win the Newbery Medal, which is also a gold stick on the cover. The big determination as to if this is the book you're talking about would be when you were a child, since this book was published in 1993.

That plot does sound like "The Giver," which was written by Lois Lowry and won the Newbery Medal, which would explain the gold sticker. It's an excellent, thought-provoking book, and I'm not surprised it sticks in your head.
