Eureka – Review
What an interesting show, I don’t think I have had a show hold my interest that well since Firefly.
The starts with a Federal Marshall and his obvious troubled Daughter traveling after some unknown event that the Daughter was in trouble for. After getting lost in a storm and losing control of his car trying to miss a “dog”; the Marshal finds himself stuck for a few days in a town called Eureka while his car gets repaired.
It becomes apparent to the Marshall that there is something screwy about this town and strange events begin to unfold around him. Events started by one of the local residents who unwittingly builds a machine that starts to unravel time and the laws of physics.
After the Sheriff is severely injured, the local “Authorities” ask the Marshall for his help.
Things get really interesting from here.
I won’t give away the general premise of the premier if you have not seen it yet, but let’s say that it unfolds very neatly and introduces us to the various inhabitants of this very unique town.
Speaking of the town of Eureka, it was founded right after WWII at the suggestion of Albert Einstein. He that suggested America build a place for the world’s best and brightest scientist to research and develop future technologies. Thus the town of Eureka was born.
I found the characters interesting, the premise is original and fresh and I really like the way they blend the seriousness with the quirkiness of the town. The effects were neat and well done for a TV show.
The backgrounds of the various characters were very nicely introduced and looks to provide the show with some interesting fodder for future episodes.
The music was odd at times, but did not detract from the quality of the show. I loved the various mysteries that are mixed around the town and the way the residents just carried on like everything is part of a normal day.
I really look forward to seeing future episodes of Eureka. I think this has a chance of being a very good and original show.
I’ll rate the 2 hour premier a solid 4.5 out 5 experiments gone awry
If you missed the premier Sci-FI channel presenting and encore...check it out.
